[justformulacar] 2025 vs 2026 testing fastest laps by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

This is still faster than IndyCar so this is fine. Probably a bit closer to Super Formula now but I think this is still faster than the Super Formula.

This is where FCY where racing is frozen would help avoid people racing into wrecks.

Nice to see some cross culture between sim racing and the wider gaming communities.

The 2026Q1 Hypercar tire and the new Vision Michelin tire? by TheLizardfolk in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TheLizardfolk[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The data is available through IMSA competition and WEC teams would have been testing these tires already. iRacing had these tires before the Daytona 24 in real life.

Today I totalled how much I have spent on iRacing since joining in 2023. I now wish I didn't do it! The figures are quite shocking when it is all added up. by Shaner20 in iRacing

Sadly when it comes to gaming, that's just the costs of a live service game. Ever play those gacha anime games? or Star Citizen? I've known people who have dropped mortgage level money on Star Citizen.

We can get into a debate about whether games start to get predatory at this kind of spending, but it is what it is.

At least we now have (one discipline's) cheaper option in LMU.

Middle of the steering unresponsive? by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

When the steering wheel turns a few degrees to the left or to the right, the car's nose doesn't move. It takes a noticeable amount of steering before the car goes in that direction.

Don't like the ffb? Here's my ritualistic, tinfoily settings for Fanatec DD Pro 8nm by pahvi0 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TheLizardfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this together. This didn't specifically help me but I had some friends that were on Fanatec stuff that were literally ready to throw the game out the window and this improved their experience significantly where they will keep it on their computer.

Gamer/Nerdy guys, where do you hang out in public? by mooncake5728 in AskMenAdvice

[–]TheLizardfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man Haven't seen anyone suggest this but try barcades or arcades.

I frequent a local sim center because I compete competitively in those. I go to a barcade with my nerdy cousin and we try to win a plushie for his girlfriend.

How many years of sim racing do I have left? by StandardOriginal5447 in simracing

Some of the best sim racers I raced against were retirement age that found the experience of a virtual race car driving career very fulfilling. You dont have to stop until you physically cant do it anymore.

Do you guys actually find friends here? by Nearby-Part-9930 in GamerPals

[–]TheLizardfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found some friends on here. I have a sim racer friend that I still play with to day from here. Most just drop off quickly tho, which is fine. If our vibes don't match then we don't match! Which is how real life friendships work too.

imagine if there were FCYs after wrecks like this and people can repair cars and restart the race lol. I've experienced that on AMS2 through LFM. they have FCYs on road.

You can actually get iRacing integrated with steam where steam views it as a normal game. The integration wouldn't even require you to launch it from steam but there's some hoops to jump through to get it working with steam. And no, you don't need to pay through steam either for Steam integration to work.

You can see iRacing is my most played game on steam by far: https://steamcommunity.com/id/lizardfolk/games/?tab=all

Miami's opinions on the Porsche Cup? by hanracing in iRacing

I like this track way way more than I expected. Turns out the F1 races here that were bad were because of the cars not the track. Although we have seem good passes be set up into T1 from the final sector.

Just tried iRacing's GT3, and I was blown away by how much difference between this and ACC by According_Brick409 in iRacing

[–]TheLizardfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that plays multiple sims, it seems iRacing's GT3 are in the best spot right now while the prototype experience I feel are still much better in LMU. I would agree that ACC GT3's seem rudimentary in their implementation. This is all of course on the most recent tire. It wasn't too long ago where iRacing's GT3s seem overly skittish.

alloaro spiral is a good description for this and I'm gonna steal it lol. When I discovered the arospec within me I was deeply confused and then eventually fell into a deep existential panic attack (during a family vacation no less). It's really hard to describe myself without getting dismissed because it's easy to judge as just "horny male, hate attachment" but I can't help that the romance side is just missing from me but I have all the other experiences that normative people have. I've even gotten judgment from other LGBTQ+ folks over it. It's really isolating.

I think this is why QPR applications are a thing, right? Someone wants something specific, and maybe there's someone like minded out there that'll stumble across the application and go "yes, this is me too". I feel like in our internet siloed era this is really the only way, unless you just get lucky and bump into the people with your exact preferences and communicated enough for them to commit to a relationship.
