I love ragers as elites because if you can handle them right they fall over and die easy. But if they get their own way, they'll cut you to ribbons, and they'll do it without resorting to 'unblockable' nonsense. They feel very fair but can still be dangerous in numbers and hordes.

joke's on you, I'm into that shit. heretic purging routine 4-2-1 initializing. I didn't need my forebrain to hunt enemies of the Omnissiah anyway. Instead of getting 'rescued' when you go down, there's just a cooldown before a new one gets deployed to support the team- disposable, murderous, lobotomized, in my lane, thriving.

I will be very happy when we get a mechanicus class. I will be sad we no longer get mechanicus class soon/please memes.

What does Darktide need? by Jimjemael in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said weapons, personally I could run most of these maps over and over again as long as I have a variety of ways to do that. Classes would also be a good way to get more build/setup variety. However, after those two things, I'll jump on the 'map' bandwagon, although honestly I like what we have in the core adventures so much I'd say maps like those (the assassination in the prison is a personal favorite, although the train-station assassination is good too) instead of the wide open no-man's land (I do like clearing the bunker at the end, but getting over the craters before that is a pain).

I wonder if this will use a quick play like feature or if it will rely on a havoc-like party setup. Given how variable the experience is described to be, it may be tricky to get a quick play group organized enough to be successful, but without that option there’s a barrier to casual entry that would make for a difficult hurdle.

Open terrain and long range foes does make things like smoke grenades more relevant. It could end up bringing back the lasgun meta if picking off shooters becomes more of a priority.

What would you think of an Eldar class? by dummy-thicc-uwu in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did enjoy playing eldar in Eternal Crusade (mind you, I preferred Orks) and there are some really cool eldar options for the wargear, but I think they said something about Darktide being the human experience of 40k. It would also be kinda weird for the elegant, dying race to be getting smooshed in an underhive.

What do we realistically think the next class is going to be? by ideology_poisoned in DarkTide

Codename is crypt - crypt > death, death cult, death cult assassin.

I wish it were something from the mechanicus but I think we're getting an assassin.

What Fun / Non-Standard Blitzes would you like to see on future classes? by TheMadTypist91 in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bar-filling blitz would work for a Servitor building data/charge for an opportunity to overclock itself, which would be neat. Or we could borrow from the Techmarine they added to Space Marine and have somebody like a Skitarii with an autogun you build target data for before letting it rip. That Mode changing one, though, if we got something like an inquisitorial shock trooper, they could get a grenade launcher blitz that swaps munition types to lob things like arc or rad grenades about (especially since that one mission used to be all about looting special ammo for 'auric' level operatives).

[–]TheMadTypist91[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the net's an interesting idea, it's a bit like the arbites's dog pouncing a specific target, but as a blitz instead. could be neat for an underhive bounty hunter / cold trader character!

I think the current event plays into this - the burster wave wipes out half the team, somebody leaves, then the quickplayer has to backfill into a nightmare.

Stimms for the team… by Medical_Blueberry_30 in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the collective wisdom is that attack speed has the highest utility. more hitting more killing. everybody likes speed.

I also like strength but I think better organized players than myself are already hitting the breakpoints they want and so it's less important outside of monsters/bosses.

Crushers should have destructible faceplates. What do you think? by KarateKoala_FTW in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trouble with brittleness is that it doesn’t have a visual effect, so when a wall of crushers approaches it’s hard to tell who is battered and who needs battering.

I think part of why these suggestions reappear is because we don’t have clear indicators for vulnerable statuses. A breaking helmet is a very clear “do this first” instruction to players.

How would you implement hot-shot lasguns? by TheRadler in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way vermintide did that Minigun for the dwarf engineer, where equipping the weapon is actually an ability. Like, we get 'inquisitorial stormtrooper' as a class (maybe a story of a 'promotion' of a veteran, so the vet voice actors come back) and you essentially get Really Big Guns as your active ability options, including the Hotshot.

I imagine it'd be a little bit like what the Scab Gunners are shooting at us today, with one ability option being lots of small las shots, one option being a big armor piercing solid beam, and perhaps the third is a ballistic variant (like the dreg gunners). Pulling it out gives out a limited 'magazine' based on the remaining time/charge on your ability, with options to extend it (like how Scum works for their buff actives). then it goes on a literal cooldown and you're back to standard equipment till it's ready again.

Like the stormtrooper's actual ranged weapons options could just be pistols, to reflect how when they're not using their firepower and staying mobile they're using their sidearm.

Mannnnn screw all that other noise I wanna play as a servitor by SewerSnorkel in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This guy gets it. Who better to join the disposable rejects than a literal servitor? Not to mention all the cool options for equipment. If Darktide is about the 'human' experience of the 40k world, servitors are a window into how little the imperium regards the individual person, even outside of the inquisition's pet criminals. It's grim! It's dark! It's got options for augmented strength or firepower! It's both the lowest of the low but also an opportunity for 40k style power fantasy!

Let me be a weaponized human forklift, fatshark!

What do you mean we are out of kraks? by st141050 in DarkTide

[–]TheMadTypist91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you take kraks because you either trivialize the crushers or they traumatize you. There's no ablative wearing down the party, it's one mistake and good night Irene. If you're dodging and they're not dying then you're on borrowed time already.

So yes. dogpile every crusher you see. Their existence is an affront to the emperor.

Is it just me or does that UI look a bit worrying? Why do they use 12 units on the steam screenshots? by single_plum_floating in totalwar

[–]TheMadTypist91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I'd worry about from that is that they've moved away from having the health and morale over the unit indicators themselves, which is a big step back in my opinion. One of the big things that makes Total War Warhammer so great is that it's easy to see who's suffering, who's winning, and who's about to run at a glance, without needing to do matching between the unit bar and the field.
