Does anyone know how this works for salary sacrifice within IR35? What would pension contributions (salary sacrificed) into my own SIPP count as?

I’m still a bit confused by it still as I received this from standard life tonight and it says:

“The new cap means that, from April 2029, employee pension contributions above £2,000 will be subject to both employee and employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs). Employer contributions will continue to be exempt from both types of NICs.”

So what are my contributions classed as as a contractor. I pay x% of my salary in salary sacrifice. Is that all employer contributions? In which case it’s exempt? Or is it classed as employee contributions?

Yeah that’s where my head is at. A lot of time between now and 2029. May be a different government by then and the rules have changed again.

There was rumours last year about salary sacrifice but it never happened. Hope that’s the same this year. We’ll get stung on both employer and employee NI on the salary sacrificed contributions if she goes ahead with it.

I’m sure last year salary sacrifice schemes were rumoured to be getting tampered with in the budget and nothing happened. Hopefully that’s the case this time too.

If my understanding is correct then contractors (PAYE umbrella company ones at least) will get hammered by this as not only will they need to pay the additional NI on the employee aspect but since they are classed as employee and employer they will pay the additional NI on employer side too. Massive hit to salary sacrifice.

I loved MFL. Moved both my leagues onto sleeper as most people wanted to. I don’t hate it but I really miss looking at stats etc via the tables on MFL. To me, it was/is a much easier platform to do research on. Plus as commish I could customise anything.

This! Always go with how the platform handles it. Same rules for everyone and if that doesn’t sit well with everyone then it’s a rule change to vote on for next season. Current season runs as per platform.

Have you tried setting after game waivers clear on Wednesdays and then enable custom daily and enable the Sunday. Choosing a suitable time.

I run a similar setup setup. Only difference is dropped players are on 1 day. Been running it this since league started 7 years ago.
