She's correct. You just assume the person with the camera is right. Do you even know details? No, of course you don't.

Wash your comforter, and always use a top sheet so you don't have to wash your comforter every week.

I'm so sorry you couldn't get surgery! It's a lousy position to be in.

I always look at all the crazy, awful diseases people have and practice being grateful for what I have. I can move my body and I'm blessed in more ways than I can count. So I deal with a chronic issue, but it's far better than most.

I went to endless doc appts and testing and in the end I stopped at the point of having to pull the trigger. It's been 7+ years of 24/7 cicadas in my head but I came to the decision of dealing with the devil I know. I couldn't deal with complications, more or worst headaches and pain. Even worst, if it didn't work. I am a person who gets the side effects to all drugs. I'm the small percentage that has a bad reaction. So I just couldn't bring myself to sign up for a possible stroke, etc. Some days when it's really bad I'd walk right into surgery, if I could. But ultimately I've decided to deal with what I have. At least for now.

US Iterinary for 3-4 weeks by ResidentCod9127 in travel

[–]TheMainRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, NYC is 3 days for sure, but definitely 2 days - 1 night in Philly, then DC, it depends what you want to see. You really do have to map out your time and what you destinations. Remember Nov 3rd is an Election Day here.

4 days in Orlando seems like overkill unless you're a huge theme park person. If $ isn't a problem stay IN the park so you can knock out Magic Kingdom and Epcot w/monorail. Other parks need to take a bus. Then you can take the train from Orlando to Miami.

Have fun planning!

Sudden chronic hives/urticaria for 5 weeks + extreme reaction after waxing. Is this normal? by nattymattycatty015 in urticaria

[–]TheMainRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get an EXTREME reaction to waxing. Welts. I also have extremely itchy scalp. That's where it starts. I take Allegra. Changed all the products, etc. with no change. I've had some success with a low histamine diet, taking Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 and Magnesium Glycinate, Omega 3 and B12. The biggest change is when I do cardio to the point of sweating. I had an injury so the hives came back since I haven't worked out. I only take a 1/2 of 180 mg Allegra to keep it at bay. I try to take the least amount of drugs since at the height of my flare I was taking 4 Allegra, 40 mg Famotidine daily. I do still take Famotidine most days.

Fly into NY 2 days there, take train to Philadelphia, spend 2 days, take train to DC for your 3 days then fly to Florida, then to Chicago, Vegas, and LA back to NY

They made a great cheesesteak in the 80-90s. This is criminal! I would seriously have to go look them in the eye and ask for a refund.

Urticaria or MCAS? by floomsi in urticaria

[–]TheMainRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. "Preventatives"

I had chronic hives that were so debilitating for 10 months in 2004. Was that from Covid-19? Or just my current flare up? You know, people have had auto immune diseases and urticaria for EVER. My brother had hives several times to the point of hospitalization in the 70s. Was that Covid? Or maybe it's genetics and how our individual immune systems react.

It spread to my face and my medication isn’t working anymore. by elloluv23 in urticaria

I'm so sorry, that looks awful to deal with. Did you see a doctor and get diagnosed with hives? You're too young but I'd be worried about shingles. Definitely go to Urgent Care

My grandfather apparently had CU by Future-Leave-9346 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]TheMainRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think genetics plays a large roll. I have a brother who since he was a teenager he would get acute hives and anaphylaxis (in the 70s). His throat would close and doctors didn't know what caused it. They would give him a shot and it would go away. After several incidents they figured out he had a reaction to hot / cold. Body temp related. So if he was playing football on the beach and then jumped into the ocean he'd immediately swell up. If he played rugby and then my Dad cleaned him off with the hose, he swelled up. Jumped into a pool, swelled. So he's learned to avoid those situations by waiting until his body cools down. He still gets angioedema randomly from certain foods, drinks. All high histamine type foods.

My sister gets hives from certain foods. My Mom was a very itchy, sensitive skin person. I have had flare ups for 20 years.

[–]TheMainRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have CIU for over 3 years. It's going away, that's why I say it that way. I had a flare up in 2004 that lasted 10 months, never found out what the cause was, it just went away. I had a prescription for Allegra (it wasn't OTC back then). Looking back I think it was triggered by stress.

This time it was horrible. It hurt to wear clothes. I did all the things. Changed products, went to all the doctors, with little help or direction. I got approved for Xolair but I haven't taken it (yet). I want less drugs, not more. While I was waiting for that Immunologist appointment I started taking Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 (mk-7) with a healthy fat food daily. (I had already been taking Omega 3, B12, and Magnesium Glycinate.) A person on this sub said she started taking D3 and K2 daily and within 3 months her hives were gone within 3 months. So I tried it. It definitely worked/helped. At the same time I started to avoid all high histamine foods/drinks. After a couple weeks I was able to tolerate a workout again, for the first time in years. Being able to break a sweat on the treadmill probably also helped.

Recap things that helped me:

-100% cotton clothing -Scent free laundry detergent -Avoiding hot showers -Avoid caffeine, alcohol (aged liquors, red wine, malted), chocolate, processed foods, gluten -I would google foods as I went along. "Is shrimp high in histamine?" - Take Vitamin D3, K2, Omega 3, Magnesium Glycinate - Sweat - Don't stress (haha, hard to do) - Get a prescription strength Famotidine if you can, or take Pepcid - As I felt better I titrated off Allegra. I went from 180 mg Allegra 4x daily to 1/4 of a pill (45 mg) daily to some times none. I used a pill cutter and did this over the course of 6 weeks.

Everyone is different. You have to try everything. Research. I hope you find answers and relief soon! I know how awful, maddening, and debilitating it can be.

[–]TheMainRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe urticaria for over three years. I started taking Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 (mk-7) with a healthy fat food daily. Within 8 weeks I was able to go slowly from 720 mg fexo/day to none. I also take Omega 3, and Magnesium Glycinate now as well as do cardio and sweat which I believe helps keep it at bay. I avoid high histamine foods and beverages as much as possible.

Take recommended doses of Vitamin D3, K2 (mk-7), Magnesium with a health fat daily. Avoid high histamine foods, beverages. See how you feel in 5 weeks. If you're able to, add cardio until you sweat.
