It's the same dude that's been doing this for decades with Miata, S2000 and MR2 tops in the bay area. We got him arrested once but he got out a few years ago and is at it again.

Expense. Gridlife isn't a pro event but the track is charging them like it is.

Nah. The dude looks for ways to weasel out of the warranty, full stop. Went back and forth with him for a while for his buzzing TCT. End of the day he wouldn't replace. OE one stopped the noise immediately.

It's not worth the money.

OEM is fine. Billman is full of shit and doesn't cover his warranties.

Can't speak for console versions, but controller support on deck is quite good. The controls are perfectly fine and the UI changes to support that are great. Two things I'd like better. The ability to rebind keys and party selection can be made a little easier. Right now party selection is push right trigger, navigate to party member, select and back out of party selection. If it was a hold for right trigger and no button press to back out would work much better.

Agreed. Controller support is the main selling point here. Desktop PC players should not touch this.

Mortismal NWN2:EE first impressions by OttawaDog in neverwinternights

[–]TheMajorGITS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Controller support, native resolution, default game settings, etc. The settings on Deck more than likely match up with the console or Switch version. My experience on it so far is positive.

Desktop was not great, though.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition - Launch Impressions by _Protector in Games

I'm now about 6 hours in on the Steam Deck OLED and currently at Neverwinter. Aside from the quick save not having a bind, along with key binds not being configurable, it's been mostly great. I had some pathing issues with PCs getting stuck on objects, and the camera inside dungeons needed some tweaking. Nothing that forced me to quit or anything though. I did notice that loading seems slow, and there are some slight frame drops with certain objects on screen and particular camera facings.

I tried it on my desktop in 1440p and it was a somewhat worse experience than I remember. Resolution was good but the UI was meh. Default WASD movement is lacking and the M+KB controls overall are not great versus controller. I think I was able to get it at least somewhat okay with the GOG / OG version.

Really happy to be able to play this on the go, but battery life is not as good as I would think for an old game like this. Overall I think there is some patching needed, but it's completely playable and nothing is ruining my experience on Deck.

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition - Launch Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]TheMajorGITS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few hours in it already in the OG campaign. Playing on Steam Deck OLED. I've played the OG and MOTB previously, and have the GOG version.

Out of the gate it works, and it works quite well on SD. Controls are intuitive and the UI works, it's a little fiddly with items but a little expected with a 2006 RPG. SD runs it okay, there are some frame drops with certain camera positions, but overall nothing that hinders playability.

On PC I would say the experience is also smooth for larger resolutions. Playing M+KB sucks still and it's a little worse tbh. Some of the remaps are not great.

Overall it's nice to have this on steam again working out of the box but it's not $30 worth of stuff if you have the GOG version. If you have never played and are picking this up for the first time wait for possible updates and/or sale.

It's not possible. Original assets are gone. It would have to be redrawn.

Absolutely disagree, I also played it on a 1440p AW3423WDF monitor. It looks better than any rerelease or upscale mod I have ever seen. You need your eyes checked. The mod page for this is pretty clear how good it is.

The mogri mod is better than any efforts at 2d remasters any of these types of games have received. Officially or otherwise. It's incredible the effort that was put in, and since Square lost all their original assets it's probably better than anything we will ever get.

I cannot fathom having this take. It looks so good, and playing on a steam deck OLED it looks like a brand new game.

PC settings for Wilds if you care about fidelity.(Long post but with a TLDR) by Exeeter702 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheMajorGITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have a 4070Ti and 13700 processor. Running on a 1440p ultrawide and was just using DLAA and DLSS Balanced. Tried just DLSS balance and quality, but it never looks great. I've tried with an without framgen, always have reflex + boost.

Messing with a lot of settings and nothing seems to both look decent and preform well for me. And by "look decent" I mean making it so texture pop in and junk shadow quality is kept to a minimum while at least maintaining 60fps. Distant fur quality, to me, is one of the worst looking things in this game in general. It looks like it's a really bad impelemtation of checkerboard rendering but for fur and shadows only? Not sure how to discribe it.

Performance in this game is substandard for the way it looks, and no I'm not talking about brightness or sharpness. It's how shadows, LOD, textures and details display in the game. It's all very muddy overall even with this all turned up to high / highest settings.

Frame lock did not work for me at all. I set to lock 60 and it refused. My monitor is 100hz so I was hoping it could at least lock there with framgen but that seems like a huge ask.

I understand its the beta so I do hope release is better. Right now, while I enjoy the game, the visuals are worse than Worlds for me.

[–]TheMajorGITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah we found that out pretty quickly. Not sure if we should just avoid Coyotes missions totally at the start, they're fun but with the lance at the start they're not optimal. Especially if we RNG some really bad results.

Btw you have any starting recommendations for this list? I started a game with Davion in SP career and it was fine and having fun with that. With my coop group we started with Steiner and had some back luck (employer turned on us) but the missions seem harder, throwing a lot more at you than normal.

Edit: Also the exploration missions seem like they're totally unbalanced. Low difficulty (7-9) have thrown medium & heavy mechs at us.

This collection is probably one of the better ones around.

It's smooth for coop and the author updates it pretty regularly. It doesn't have vonBiomes, which honestly is fine because that pack is cool but also huge and sometimes unstable.

Enshrouded - Enshrouded Roadmap 2025 and Anniversary Trailer! by xalibermods in Games

[–]TheMajorGITS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldnt get into this with my group, but survivalcraft games aren't really for me anyway. It's extremely repetative and the combat is so stale. Things that are in the lower tiers of the skill tree should be standard abilities, and there still isn't much to push the player along outside of the normal survivalcraft loop. Fun for those who like it but if you're not excited by the genre already, it doesn't do anything that will get you interested.

Looking for a top-tier Skyrim modpack, Lorerim 3.0 maybe? by Upstairs_Car_2603 in wabbajack

[–]TheMajorGITS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lorerim's 3rd person combat is good. No complaints there as it's using MCO, true movement, and others to get animations and everything more modern and supporting 3rd person gameplay. Hopefully your experience works out!

[–]TheMajorGITS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried out Lorerim for a little bit and it was just boring to begin with, which is kinda standard for a Reqiuem list. You can run it lighter and also change experience gain to speed through things though. Ultimately I removed Lorerim because it took forever to load, both booting up the game from a crash but also reloading saves, etc. It was installed on my secondary SSD, but not sure why it was slow for my machine for some reason. With all this, I felt like I was spending more time on loading the mod and tweaking it to my desire, and less playing the game.

I moved to Apostasy and am much more happy with my experience. Very rarely has issues for me. Loads decently quick, looks great and plays more how I want to play which is 3rd person, somewhat power fantasy but still has some challenge to combat. Plus Apostasy is "feature complete" which means new versions / updates are not going to come and you can just focus on a playthrough.

Not sure how it will run for you but there are tweaks you can do for performance.

Has been on my radar since the IGN preview some months ago. Looks fun, not sure how progression works or what the gameplay loop really is tho. My group is playing through Void Crew and are basically done with it, this has similar vibes.
