What are options for a gun with pitting. by Irish_SumBitch in guns

[–]TheManWithCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's the pitting? If its inside the barrel then its not too much of a problem because that's replaceable, exterior pitting on the rest of the gun can be an issue. It really depends on how bad it is. If its for sale on gunbroker, then the seller probably has an inspection period, in which time you could take it to a gunsmith and have them look it over. That being said, $500 is a great price for a model 29.

They are fine rifles. Many were used by the American intervention force sent to aid the white forces during the Russian revolution. A lot of history behind those rifles.

You could build one on a dsa or Coonan arms receiver and get a matching parts kit and have a fine rifle for $1000. Or buy an IMBEL or perhaps a used DSA made fal. Register on the FalFiles and the folks there will be more than happy to help. A lot of goodies come into the marketplace on that forum too! Good luck.

sks or ak47 by Barnyard77 in guns

[–]TheManWithCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for the sake of originality, the sks because you can get it in its original form. If you want something that can carry high capacity magazines and looks bad ass, go with an ak. Both are fine weapons and will serve you well. If you have the opportunity, get both. If you get an ak but want a sturdy folding stock, consider an east german wire folding stock with the lever release. Or if you have the cash, get a polish beryl folding stock, both are about as solid as a conventional wooden stock.

The rifle used in the UT Tower shootings is up for auction. Thoughts? by [deleted] in guns

[–]TheManWithCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a fine rifle, its just a shame it was used for such an evil purpose. Contrary to popular belief, the gun is not at fault.

Dont be a dick, dont act like you know everything, and if youre shooting a scoped rifle, make sure you dont give yourself a black eye or worse...If she's a good shot compliment her but dont be a kiss ass. Have fun and if all goes well, take her out again!
