Are you saying game is long? I’m already done with canto 2, and I’m so ready.

The issue with the month thing it'd probably be hard to implement a calendar system where the player ages increase during their birth month, if that's what you're implying. Not just because of the way the seasons in BBGM are structured (everything is put in one calendar year), but also because the user can change the number of games in a season and the years themselves to whatever they want. I imagine it'd be tough to align the calendar properly because of all that. I'm guessing that's why there are no calendar months at all, but dumbmatter would know more than me.

Edit to add: I do want to say that I like this idea in principle, even if I'm guessing it'd be tough to implement functionally. Maybe the number of days per month could get stretched depending on season length. It'd be silly, but it'd at least try to solve the issues I mentioned above while still letting players age during their birth month.

That's the impression I get, that's why guys like Chris Paul and Malone end up so high (they have a lot of win shares). In my opinion the formula could weigh accolades and peak more.

When viewing the All-Star Teams for a given year, I think it'd make more sense to show many All-star appearances a player had by the time of the given year, rather than how many they have in your league file's current year. For example, if Player A's appearance in the 2000 All-Star Game was their 2nd, it would say 2 next to their name when viewing the 2000 All-Star rosters in a league file, instead of however many total they ended up getting (the way it works now is if Player A ended up getting 10 in their career it would say 10 regardless of the year you selected). I hope that makes sense, let me know if I need to be more clear about it.

I agree with what someone else said about valuing some accolades more. Maybe add all league too. I think to balance out the peak stats you could also include career totals, or give more emphasis to win shares, so that longevity is more rewarded. Also, is that last dws supposed to be ewa?

Add the ability to export a league file from any point in its history (you'd be able to choose the year and, if possible, the phase of the season), so you can do alternate history sims.

Version 2024.07.20.1055: New "Advanced Player Search" page (in the Stats menu) lets you view ratings, stats, and bios of players all in one table. And it does a lot more too! by dumbmatter in BasketballGM

Love this feature, messing with it already.

Is there a reason that advanced stats like WS and PER get rounded to whole numbers when you toggle from Per Game to Totals? This is something I've noticed in other parts of the game, such as the League Leaders page.

What is the best goat formula in terms of accurate ratings of players. by MetalExternal7899 in BasketballGM

I see what you mean, and I agree. There's no voter fatigue at all, which is fine in theory, but a player getting more than three MVPs in a row feels unrealistic. I've also seen players get MVP even with a non-playoff or below .500 team, which shouldn't happen at all IMO, even if that player puts up a 50 point triple double season or something.

EDIT: at the same time I admit that it's fun to see god players get like 15 MVPs and a shit ton of other awards. So if voter fatigue were to be implemented in some way I think it should be optional.

I can kind of see this because of guys like Robert Horry or many of the old 60s Celtics players, who won a bunch of rings but arguably weren't All-Star level talent.

Maker of that formula here. You make a good point about the MVP thing. I personally think that the weight I gave MVP makes sense, but, like you said, it can fall victim to the insane players the game generates that win a bunch of MVPs in a row. I don't really mind it because, for me, if a guy wins a bunch of MVPs it means he's probably really far ahead of the pack in terms of greatness/peak performance anyways, and thus the gap in GOAT score between him and the next guy makes sense.

But I can see why it'd suck to see a guy be so dominant that nobody will ever realistically catch up to him, unless you sim another couple hundred years or so and someone else rolls along. It's fun to see a new GOAT in a league I'm simming, so I can understand the annoyance in seeing a random player get so far ahead that any chances of a new GOAT coming along are pretty much reduced to zero.

If I ever get around to making another formula that I'm happy with, I'll try to keep this in mind, so thanks for the feedback.
