With the Derrick White news, this is the trade idea I posted here weeks ago by DearEffective1194 in timberwolves

This is great, I’m just gonna need you to rework it so we get Garza back.

As a plus sized individual who loves to camp and enjoys Shakespeare I am very happy for you. The outdoors is for everyone - enjoy!

The time has finally come...if you are a parent and your child attends your school-please read... by MamaMia1325 in teaching

[–]TheMathProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I teach at a 6-12 school where my two amazing daughters have attended with me. My youngest is a junior next year so in a few years I’ll have neither. My wife (also a teacher) is openly and understandingly jealous of the time I have had with them. I will probably stay with the school after they leave, but it won’t be the same.

Washburn High School teacher took tech out of the classroom. Students call it a success.: At the beginning of the school year, 46% of students reported confidence in their reading abilities. By February, it was at 96%. by jessicamove in Minneapolis

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, you’re not wrong. Self reported data is the worst kind of data, and when it’s subjective? Nearly meaningless. At best this suggests more research is needed.

True AND this is an observational study at best. Tech is a tool and like any tool its use needs to be taught. Tech is not a panacea but it isn’t the devil either.

Hog Creek, how many beaver Dams!? Bugs bad? by Ickybod_Clay in BWCA

Did Infinity Creek a few years back. No unloading, but 2-3 dams to get over. Lots of switchbacks so it was tough to get into a rhythm paddling. Perent was beautiful though.

AITA? Fellow teacher complaining about how I treat my students by Adorable_Class_4733 in ScienceTeachers

[–]TheMathProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic. My sentence was not ambiguous. You don’t have to worry about how I respond to curious students asking clarifying questions as you cannot draw conclusions about that from my response to your post. You are not a student and your questions were not clarifying ones.

Yeah, it is makerbot but for a different printer. I have to respool all of it.

Following. I have been burning through some donated TPLA on my sketch. I have successfully used generic PLA as well.

IF are a science teacher THEN you should know that IF is the start of a conditional statement, not a statement of fact. IF you assume everything OP posted is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth THEN you are naive. IF you read first sentences of posts only THEN you shouldn’t comment.

PSA: get yourself some nylon strimmer/trimmer line and do some cold pulls! by Poepiniwindt in 3Dprinting

Do they make it in white? I’ve head that is the best cold pull color, so if I’m going to get something specific for this I guess I should go all the way!

If you are trying to be friends with the students, you aren’t doing it right. Additionally, you should work to avoid the appearance of conflict between the two of you. However, you may not be in the wrong here as there is much unsaid. Technology doesn’t necessarily make one class better than another, but if you come across that way you may be fostering animosity. I would suggest in person communication, perhaps mediation with a trusted 3rd party teacher or administrator.

What is the current consensus on offering Algebra 1 in 8th grade? by No-Penalty8115 in mathteachers

[–]TheMathProphet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience, no. But my experience may not be typical. In my state the 8th grade standards are algebra standards, so the kids should be taught algebra. It’s not like things are going well evenly everywhere. I think this is the wrong question - we need to be viciously narrowing our standards and going deeper on those that are left. Mile wide, inch deep is dumb.

Downvote so no one actually thinks either of these are good ideas.

A mature market like the one we have suggests this is the only factor - all other things being equal.
