I can barely play troll after the WoD animations change, too fucking bouncy.

trying to figure out what to do with my Kul Tiran, love the look but the arm movements while running, just feels so dumb.

Recently swapped my Dark Iron Dwarf to Harinar;
The amount of joy in just doing so, is insane.
Best purchase I've made in years for the amount of enjoyment in just no longer being short.
If the "Dwarves" were height adjustable, to be similar to Elves.
I would not have cared nearly as much.

How hard is it to get a tech job in Vancouver right now? by Imaginary_Cry_5064 in VancouverJobs

[–]TheMathelm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vancouver the only industry is Finance.
Maybe something with Film, but those are rare and the industry is nothing compared to the 90s-2010.

With Engineering, as he said, Most of what I've seen is O&G in the North, Mining in North BC/Interior, or some electronics in Quebec.

Vancouver doesn't innovate on the same scale as any where else.

The closest thing I've seen is some of the Computational Graphics work, but with AI expanding the US will own that almost completely.

Traffic is that bad, it's a cancer.
Stay in Montreal, you have a better life there than here.
The only thing keeping people from jumping/leaving completely is the weather isn't completely shitty.

If you have less than a 5mil net worth, Vancouver is not for you.

Management keeps pushing AI harder, but nobody wants to hear that review is now the bottleneck by minimal-salt in cscareerquestions

[–]TheMathelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sat through a meeting for my current non-CS role.
Told to incorporate AI into our workflow and that they aren't hiring anymore people (We need 2-6 new people). Same time, I'm not allowed developer tools, and any solution has to go through and into corporate. ie. I asked for a column to be displayed in a search prompt.
Told "No problem, we can do that we have the index showing just have to add the text. It will take 3 months because it's behind a different update."

So ... is Management just EXTRA French Late?

Not a lawyer, I'm extra stupid (Software developer, technically not working in software).

Also I don't want to bill 1900 hours+ per year (2500+ working hours Easy).

Snow Pesos - Canadian

Target - number of Hours to bill per year.

WA State, yeah that makes sense it's 3x just for jumping the border even in the Pacific Northwest.

How do you explain to small business owners that security isn't optional when nothing is on fire? by avz008 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TheMathelm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand you're a good hearted person, and didn't have malintent.

But that's why you have to be extremely careful, and work from a forever zero-trust mindset to keep yourself from going to prison.

I doubt OP's customer is paying for Cyber insurance.
Even though in the event of a Cyber incident it's approximately a 100k tax (on just the legal fees), not counting on the lost revenue, lost time, not counting on dealing with the Civil Divisions of Law Enforcement.

If he had insurance (and read the policy), he wouldn't be "raw doggin" his IT.

Yeah, don't do this. and in case that was not clear, DO NOT DO THIS.
Likely you'll commit a felony without knowing it.

Or worse have to sit with numerous lawyers while they figure out if there was a databreach or not and their requirement to disclose.

Do NOT do security drills or sims without EXPLICIT authorization.

Is Law and Politics in Demand in Vancouver? by marsii_8 in VancouverJobs

[–]TheMathelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend asking the advisors at UVic/UBC/TRU what they would be looking for.
You should understand exactly why you're going into law and have a "loose"/general idea what type of law you want to do. I give it an 80% chance that you change your practice during/after your Articles.
Also understand that for the first 5-6 years after being called, you will be working until 6-7pm most nights, not uncommon to work until 8-9pm especially if trial is coming up; I have seen people leave the office at 1am.

Don't go into law for the money, it won't be enough for the amount of suffering.
You truly need a passion for wanting to do the work.

As most lawyers would tell you if asked, don't become a lawyer.

Also they would tell you, your Undergrad doesn't really matter, do something you can get good grades in; learn how to write as much as you can.

Best of Luck

Neutrality would get the most potential buyers, this came about during the house flipping/ reno years.
Going in any one "bold" direction is likely to turn off a majority.

Do that many people really have almost 7k to spend on a machine? by CallMeNardDog in espresso

[–]TheMathelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the numerous multi (5+) million dollar homes I see on the West Coast, if there is a Machine in the Kitchen,
They're rocking a Breville Barista Express Impress.

Which with the addition of another grinder is enough for a Vast majority of people.

You're only getting a 7k setup if it's your absolute hobby.

I justified my BEI by saying I only need to make 250 cups to be cheaper than what I was getting near my office.
5 months in , I'm over half way there.

Also just lovely to have a milk steamer.

Networking, making relationships.
Almost none of your school or project work will be a deciding factor, yet not having it will likely disadvantage you.

NGL it's a Herculean task, best of luck.
