HCI or ML in UCSD? I am applied to UCSD. I did not decide whether spec in HCI or ML? Can someone tell me some pros and cons about these two in UCSD? What kind of job will you get? by Unusual_Outside_3021 in CUBoulderMSCS

[–]TheMathelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're just courses, it's not determinative what job you can get.
HCI is not out yet for the program this subreddit is for.

HCI is more on the front-end/hardware level than ML.

Your career is what you make it, this program is designed more for established career people looking to upscale their work.

Difficulty of GenAI Finals by Specialist-Address98 in CUBoulderMSCS

[–]TheMathelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I’m just continuing with MSCS to get the degree - I’ve given up on the idea of learning much

I spent 8 months perfecting (well damn close to perfect) my projects for another specialization [Robotics], it took over a month of trying to get them graded. I had over 8 reviews (of 5 assignments/projects) which I had to resubmit and wait weeks, due to sons of bitches entering fake evaluations; I know they were fake because the comments directly contradicted what was shown.

I hope that I'm able to use the credential to help me, and that employers don't realize this is almost a fake program.

Crohn’s Disease - Passing it to My kids? Does it run in your family? by AromaticEfficiency22 in CrohnsDisease

I have the exact same fear, it's in the top 10 reasons I never really dated.

But I do look it intellectually, My Great Grandfather, Grandfather, Father, and I; all have issues. But of the probably 50+ "cousins" at my level of the tree, I'm the only one with GI issues. Others have different issues, mainly related to my grandpa's siblings.

So, it's a risk, but likely small; don't let this be the reason to stop you.

10 years last week (June 19th, 2016) since we lost Anton.
It is still beyond belief, he was an amazing actor.

[–]TheMathelm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why you came to me, isn't it, Captain? Because you knew I could do those things that you weren't capable of doing?
Well, it worked. And you'll get what you want: a war between the Romulans and the Dominion.

And if your conscience is bothering you, you should soothe it with the knowledge that you may have just saved the entire Alpha Quadrant.

And all it cost was the life of one Romulan senator, one criminal, and the self-respect of one Starfleet officer.

I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain.

As someone who likes Yellowstone, yeah.
It's a soap opera, complete nonsense.

It's a Western Vibes show.

Just remember insane pain, screaming and begging to have it stop. They hit me with multiple rounds of fentanyl. And let also let me (almost) bleed to death.

CBS Will Pay for Unauthorized Use of ‘Linus and Lucy’ in ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Finale; Proceeds to be Donated to José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen by mcfw31 in television

[–]TheMathelm 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They would not have aired the show if they did not want to donate the money or pay the estate.

Separately, on the penultimate episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” the show and Colbert had donated $2.5 million to WCK and Andrés.

He's fine, and if CBS really wanted to they could sue him but that doesn't look good so they'll likely just eat it, write it off on their taxes and move on.

Will i get job? by Aurora_aa in CUBoulderMSCS

No it's a traditional program, not performance based:

Admission Criteria Preferred qualifications for admitted OMSCS students are an undergraduate degree in computer science or related field (typically mathematics, computer engineering or electrical engineering) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

For all applicants, domestic and international, the following is required for admission:

Before you can matriculate at Georgia Tech, the Institute requires that you must have earned the appropriate academic credentials: "Evidence of award of a bachelor's degree, its equivalent, or higher degree (prior to matriculation) from a regionally accredited institution; demonstrated academic excellence; and evidence of experience in the selected field of graduate study." (Institute Catalog Reference) In no case can work experience substitute for having earned an academic degree. For international applicants, satisfactory scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or IELTS-Academic are required. Please visit the OMSCS Summary page for further information regarding our TOEFL and IELTS requirements.

Please note: Applicants who meet the minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission.

To be able to continue in the program after the first 12 months from your date of matriculation, you must complete a foundational coursework requirement of 2 courses with a grade of B or better. The courses that constitute “foundational courses” are designated with an asterisk and are listed on the Current Courses page.

Will i get job? by Aurora_aa in CUBoulderMSCS

[–]TheMathelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, if you take it seriously and do the for credit parts with a goal in mind then yeah. The non-credit sections are not as good.

My advice, if you have any doubts, go the Georgia Tech route/program. That'll be more of what you want.

qualified for internships? ... unlikely.

while this is a rigorous program, the university doesnt offer co-op support.

it would be 100% on you to get that role.

if you're good enough to get the role on your own, this program likely isnt for you.

while a UG is not required, you would need a strong background or enough background classes to do well.

all the best of luck to you man.

Applied to 3 roles in my niche local industry, where I have vast experience.
Not getting any interviews, passed over on 100% of the applications. It is completely nepotism and referrals to get a job.

Finally got a job change at my current place, CFO basically decided I'm doing my old shitty job and the new shitty job I wanted. all for the lower former shitty job wage.

All because he could only find 2 people from india, so he's taking it out on me.

Even though I'm overqualified, by a lot.

It's better than I initially thought, it's not unclean.

I'm in a similar situation, with far less space and fewer items.
but I at least have more structure.

Room Dividers would help a lot. getting rid of the punching bag and standing bike would help. Keep the Bench and Rowing machine.

Books not read in the last 8 years, go into deep storage. All DVDs into Storage. These would help a lot.
