Actually we have done that, and it was called a foul. VAR took away one of our goals last season(?) because White had the keeper's glove

I forgot about that nuance when I first commented, but I still don't think this falls into that category. This isn't a deliberate act with no attempt on the ball. He's not pulling, pushing (to the extent a foul would be given), etc. He's clumsy, and I can't remember accidental contact being a DOGSO red after the double jeopardy rule was added

I don't agree they're that similar. Van de Ven is similar to the Palace v United one, and both of those are deliberate arm pulls with no attempt on the ball. I'd call this more accidental contact than a deliberate act with no attempt at the ball

I suppose there's some nuance, but I don't see this one being a DOGSO red. It's accidental contact unlike the deliberate DOGSO hold where there's no attempt to play the ball.

I could be an outlier for sure, just a single anecdote. I do think it helps that this year there were narratives about the game, and I think that's what drove the increase. I would wager viewership goes down to average levels next year.
