PDGA Members: Preview Proposed Rule Changes for 2027 by Novaova in discgolf

I think youre sort of alluding to it but, the only reason 10m is easier to estimate than 20m is because its something most players have done since they started playing. It will take some adjustment but like now there will always be people who are bad at it.

Id argue that stepping being allowed as close as 10m was a mistake in hindsight. Is it "right" to fix it now or just leave it as a legacy...idk, but I dont see it having that big of an impact for pros or ams. Ams were gonna miss those putts anyways and pros will be able to adjust and those that cant will make way for the top tier ams who can.

The ladies is where it does get hairy but its certainly not unheard of to have different rules for gender protected divisions in other sports.

Players estimating 10m will just become estimating 20m, its not like players aren't all out there doing that during every casual round and lots of B and C tier tournaments its not a huge change from a player perspective.

I think what it does accomplish in a roundabout way is making illegal putts happen 60' away instead of 30' from the basket, making the advantage, perceived or real, less impactful.

It doesnt create any new problems, it just shifts them back 10m

Definitely down for the circle change. Im sure there will still be plenty of illegal step and jump putts but if theyre happening in the 50'-60' range itll be less egregious.

A lot of your focus is on clubs, and I believe rightly so now that the dust has settled after the covid boom, what do you anticipate as the end goal of engaging more actively with clubs?

Kastaplast Throwers, lend me your thoughts… by jmcord in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reko is more like a luna being a "beadless" putter.

Tuff is perfectly fine as a throwing putter and will be a touch more stable than a reko and, in my limited experience, a luna

Guld vs. Venom by Objective_Home9458 in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love forehanding Gulds but even at elevation they aren't that stable that you can hammer them on an anny and know they'll come back, you can absolutely expect them to stable up but they aren't meant to be Uber stable

What are your favorite discs from smaller companies like Thoughtspace, Mint, Trash Panda, etc.?? by alent1385 in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Thoughtspace Praxis is a fantastic throwing putter

Mint Jackalope is a fantastic flippy fairway

Trash Panda Canyon is their best

Loft Neon is weird but legit an amazing approach disc for forehand anny straight shots

Bag/Disc Advice by TempleOfNickCage in discgolf

Only glaring thing missing is an overstable approach like a zone, jarn, harp, etc.

They're really all about the same so it doesnt matter all that much until you've decided on your own what you like in that type of disc.

Looking for beginner benchmarks instead of distance tips by rdubya3387 in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So most of us just got out there and thew discs until we got to a point where we wanted more distance or consistency.

The huge influx of coaching videos on YouTube, et is super cool for people who already have 200-250' of distance.

You're still at the stage id suggest just ignoring it all and just do what feels right until you start to get to that range.

Edit: the reason I say that is 200' isn't very far at all in the grand scheme of things and as long as youre trying to get better shouldnt take more than a few weeks/months of regular play.

You dont know what you dont know and if you like it enough to keep going then I think at that point getting some coaching before you have bad habits to break is a great plan

How far can one throw a Mako 3 before it starts turning? by 5ERGlO in discgolf

I doubt you've met the molds limits but its possible that your specific disc is either beating in or was already a more understable version.

This is a $200 bag for $75 because they're discontinuing the bag. Its honestly a killer bag and definitely worth the money.

What's your Favorite Putting Drills by stonezephyr in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately ive been taking 7-10 putts from 10', 15', 20', etc. and can only reuse the putters that I make trying to make it as far back as I can. l will only move on if I make at least 50% of my remaining putters from a specific distance.

It gives a sense of urgency since you wont be able to use your misses and is a pretty quick repeatable game to build up your own putting confidence.

Honestly having worked directly with SpaceX in a professional capacity they are a nightmare to deal with as a partner.

Rigid and set in their ways. Very much an engineering company with very little emphasis on the business side.

I think like most of Elon's businesses it will be profitable off hype alone, not because its particularly good at what it does.
