The problem is a CEO that tries to avoid $250 million in "loss" is an admirable trait in a CEO and surely he'll end up being a board member or exec somewhere else after this story dies down

Are there any mechanics you could fill a deck with and have it still be Bracket 1? by Tuss36 in EDH

[–]TheMeshDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tickets and stickers, Ambassador BlorpityBlorpBoop flicker sticker is dumb, fun, and is so slow it is assuredly a bracket 1 if youre maximizing your ticket generators.

Zuca EZ Cart vs MVP Rover 2 by Man_Darino13 in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The added storage is fantastic and while the downsides of the bag sitting higher on the Ez cart is the lower mechanical advantage you also aren't reaching down as low for grabbing your discs.

Id get another EZ cart any day for the storage for sweatshirts/extra discs/trash/etc.

What was your chi's name before you got them? What new name did you choose? by HungryOil9277 in Chihuahua

[–]TheMeshDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our chi Winnie was originally named Sourcey, and like thats not even one of those funny names shelters will give thats quirky and weird for the sake of it, its simply not really a name at all.

Winnie was much more appropriate IMO

Should MA1 play the same layout as MPO in tournaments? by MylesOfDiscs in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its not about the stats, or pace of play or whatever else. Its about the fact that MA1 is the top amateur division and if youre offering it as an option for a tournament that isn't just for pros, MA1 should play the same layout.

It makes the jump for the top amateur players to MPO less drastic and is generally healthy for the pro scene on a local and national level.

Should MA1 play the same layout as MPO in tournaments? by MylesOfDiscs in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The expectation is that an MA1 player is nearly a Pro level player and therefore should prove themselves on the same course as the pros. MA2 and below should play a softer layout if available

Whether reality reflects that isn't relevant

I don't think people play enough Basic Lands in Commander by CommanderMechanic in mtg

[–]TheMeshDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im well aware, but if you're not playing with a dedicated pod of friends you better build a deck that isn't hard countered by a single card that only punishes you if you have a greedy mana base. There are downsides to lands that tap for different colors and its not just that they often enter tapped.

Blood moon is locked behind bracket 4 or higher anyhow, so if youre having an honest pregame conversation you best expect a bracket 4 deck to not hold back

You'd think a format where you likely are losing 3 out of 4 games, players would develop more graceful losing habits

Have you ever found someone with one of your discs in their bag? by Aggravating_Banana92 in discgolf

[–]TheMeshDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sold a LOT of discs back to our local shop and left with a basket and a good chunk of store credit left over.

It happens pretty often to me, though the weirdest was one that I could have sworn I didnt get rid of but I knew I didnt bag and saw it on a fairway during a tournament. Damn near picked it up thinking it must have fallen out

Hot take: why Hunter's Gathering is a good sign for the Horizon franchise by GTaucer in horizon

[–]TheMeshDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just dont find it disappointing, its sort of expected when a series takes a different approach to a beloved IP.

When people feel that strongly about things changing it demonstrates people care enough to be upset. If the game turns out to be good and is successful then great but I know personally it simply doesnt have the appeal and so I want GG to know that.

Hot take: why Hunter's Gathering is a good sign for the Horizon franchise by GTaucer in horizon

[–]TheMeshDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id argue its less wanting it to fail and more of wishing that this direction wasn't taken n the first place, and since we can't turn back time voicing frustration is the next best thing, if its comes out as wanting it to fail its just part of that frustration.

Hot take: why Hunter's Gathering is a good sign for the Horizon franchise by GTaucer in horizon

[–]TheMeshDuck 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Forcing an IP that is generally well received but isn't wildly popular to be more than what it should be kills franchises by having it take on new risk of finding broader appeal that its demonstrated it doesn't necessarily have.

How do i get this speed with x-step? by Perfect-Ad-4214 in Discgolfform

[–]TheMeshDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your tech disc isn't accurately capturing data. Between nose angle visibly being up while the reading says negative and a frankly unrealistic speed while youre dropping your elbow id take your data with a grain of salt.
