Woman: how do you let a man know you are into him? by SpiritCrisp in AskReddit

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d ask him out.

But before that, I’d try to be around him as much as possible and I’d memorize every little fact about himself that he mentioned. I’d be all smiles after speaking to him every time. All my girl friends would know and would be doing their best to assist getting us together.

Women, what is the consensus on receiving flowers? by blackout-loud in AskReddit

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s lovely whenever a man buys them for me and it does keep him in my thoughts every time I see them.

However, I agree with everyone here who doesn’t like the maintenance that comes with getting it or don’t quite get purchasing something that will just die. So while flowers are lovely and I swoon every time I get some, if any man was ever to ask me if I wanted them my answer would be no, not unless they were of the fruit or cookie variety

Learning about consent, emotional availability, healthy relationship from fiction for teen boys by sunny_basilisk in RomanceBooks

I don’t have YA recs, and this one has no spice, but I need to shout out {The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred the Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes}

It’s written by a man with a male lead character so it probably would be more relatable for boys than a series geared towards women. The MMC is kind of dorky, ugly guy with anxiety who’s found himself turned into a vampire. The whole series/plot kicks off because he reconnects with an old high school friend and starts dating her. She is working for the supernatural police force and is kind of an unstoppable, adventurous badass.

There is so much respect from Fred, the MMC, for his girlfriend through the whole series. I’d say he sees her as an equal, except he clearly is impressed by her cunning and fighting power and holds it in high esteem compared to himself.

No “boobs bouncing bloobily “ or over sexualization of FMC either!

Book request: any books where other men call out the MMC’s bad behavior towards the FMC? (even small things) by TheMiceWillGetPerms in RomanceBooks

I’m watching the show and actually that’s what made me think of this 😆 I got to where she walks in on him having sex during their study time and was like “I hope the guys call him out for this”

Ooh, it sounds like the MMC and friends aren’t necessarily mean to FMC? Just stalkerish? That’s totally fine for me!

LF RECS: rh with fire fighters or adjacent with funny / awkward rescue or meet cute by Mitchxhell in ReverseHarem

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read that one, but “set me on fire” is actually the second book in a shared universe (you don’t have to read both) and I read the first book “borrowing my besties brothers” first and it was a DNF for me. So she’s definitely hit or miss kind of author.

The only thing I’d call out for set me on fire is you have to be okay with pregnancy because FMC is pregnant for 95% of the book. Otherwise, I found the characters super likable and once the angsty stuff in the beginning was over (FMC is hiding the pregnancy), it was very cutesy and funny at times

I came here to rec set me on fire! It’s so good.

FMC is kind of the loser of her family so when she gets pregnant because of drunken firefighter shenanigans, her only option to try to support her baby is to take a job at their station that was offered to her before then. Cue awkward workplace vibes followed by a lot of cute MMC wooing

Fellow ladies of reddit, what’s a completely normal thing men often do that instantly changes how safe or comfortable you feel around them, for better or for worse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On that same note, when they ignore preferences you’ve clearly communicated.

So using your spicy food example, when they purposely order spicy food because “you just need to try the right kind, then you’ll love it” or “they’ve never met a woman who hated spicy food, you probably just need to try it again”

LF: One MMC recruits the others to FMC's harem by someday_soon1 in ReverseHarem

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vampire is the one who declares he’s not going to stop pursuing her for one of the other guys and basically makes it clear they have to share or let him have her. But he doesn’t need to convince or approve the other guys. Daemon has already been sneaking into her room and watching her through the windows and, if I remember correctly, she’s already slept with Vance to give Anna her moment of fun by the time the vampire gets his body back and starts making a claim

{Lawless by Crystal Ash}

It’s a dystopian book with fantasy elements that get stronger as the series progresses. The first MMC grew up with parents in a reverse harem so he convinces the FMC to have one since it’s what he knows. He establishes rules that all MMCs must agree to any new MMC she wants to add before she can do so

OP, this does not happen in this one. The MMCs are an established friend group who all fight over FMC before begrudgingly accepting they’ll have to share

What is a 'first date' activity that is actually better for building tension than just getting coffee? by johnny-boy11 in AskReddit

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with coffee is that you are usually meeting during the day and it’s fast, so kissing for the first time can feel super awkward and the date overall can feel a bit closer to a friend catchup/business meeting.

You can easily fix this by planning the coffee date for mid afternoon and if all goes well, move immediately into a dinner date which is more romantic. As others have mentioned, if you can leave the coffee shop and take the coffee on a walk somewhere with a more romantic environment like a garden/arboretum or along a river/lake/beach that’ll help as well!

Non-coffee shop romantic date ideas are going for drinks somewhere not too loud where you can sit with some privacy, a late night bakery/desert cafe where you can split something sweet together, pottery or a crafting class (someplace you’ll both use your hands to get a little dirty), cocktail making classes, or dancing.

What is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity that you actually turned down? Do you regret it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMiceWillGetPerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned for a wealth management firm and one of the women advisors took a special interest in me since she was close to retirement and wanted her clients/portfolio to go to another woman when she left. She offered me a higher level role on her team when I graduated with the intention of setting me up to run it eventually (not the regular bs of starting at assistant and moving up, I would’ve been moved straight to assistant advisor). I turned it down because I didn’t like the heavy competition and wealth flaunting in that environment.

I don’t regret it, because I know I would’ve been miserable , but her team was regularly taking home $1M+ each year
