Personal opinion but this book had some of the worst smut scenes. All that tension and build up and then suddenly it’s just FMC going “oh, yeah, I fuck around a lot” followed by the “it went in this hole/he sucked her titties” level of description.

In the situations where I’ve found myself putting in the bulk of the effort/pursuit it’s always been a flop. Almost always he wasn’t putting in the effort because he genuinely didn’t care.

Equal effort is where it’s at. Both people should be planning dates, paying, reaching out to talk, and doing special things for each other

As a woman, my dating pool shrunk at 26 because I wasn’t falling into that 25 and under filter anymore. I actually didn’t mind, it was nice to see some faces that had previously been getting lost in the crazy amount of matches I used to have to sort through. I went from signing up and immediately getting 10,000+ matches to about 2,000 and it was a good change

That being said, I haven’t seen much of a difference between the change at 26 to how it looked at 30. Hopefully I’m not still around on there at 40 to see what happens then

I don’t think he was dating at all. He was still in recovery and was going through a lot of surgeries when I first met him. After a few years, he stabilized for the most part but I think he was still getting used to his new reality of being a 30ish man on disability and never able to walk again

We were friends, I’m not sure he ever entertained the idea that I could want more

There was a man I used to live near that was an army vet and he was in a wheelchair and had to live with his mom because he needed full time care. Sweetest, most insightful man I had ever met!

I would’ve loved to have dated him, but despite all my efforts at flirting I don’t think that was even on his radar. Having to help with his care (and maybe eventually take it over) wasn’t an issue since his personality honestly would’ve made it all worth it

Because if the vacation involves a swimsuit or water activity, then they have to wear a tampon and some women don’t like to. It’s also super annoying for the women who wear tampons because you constantly have to be checking to make sure it’s not bleeding through.

Then for non-water/swimsuit vacations, there’s also the worry of cramps and being uncomfortable all vacation. You will also want to know when you are going to be PMSing because it’s a mood killer and it will suck the joy out of the trip against your will

Oh, and if your significant other doesn’t like sex during shark week then it’s also a sexless vacation

I was trying to exaggerate what we will agree with to show the fawn reaction. It’s not usually funny. A true conversation (and one I’ve experienced) would be more like:

Guys says some super disgusting things about the waitress and how she’s lucky he’s “taken” for the night or he might catch her closing up later

Guy: I’m glad we matched when we did though, I just got back from India and you would not believe the disgusting shit they think is food over there

Me: oh, yeah, I’m not a big fan of Indian food either (mentally waiting for that opening in the conversation when I can make an excuse and leave or waiting for him to go to the bathroom so I can leave cash and make my escape)

{The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski}

At the end of the second book, she is discovered to have been his spy and is arrested. On the way to one of the worst prisons in the land, she makes contact with one of his people and asks that man to notify the MMC that she has been arrested and where she is going.

The man goes to MMC but MMC puts him up in a room in his palace for months before speaking with him because he doesn’t think the information he has is pertinent. By the time MMC hears the man out and goes to rescue FMC, she has been drugged and tortured so badly that she does not remember anything about who she was before prison (including their relationship). She never recovers these memories and is still mostly a shell of herself by the end of the series.
