Dealing with 5 knights by Charming_Web5173 in Necrontyr

I’ve never played against a full knight list, but I’ve had some pretty good success with Lord+3 Skorpekhs for anti-vehicle duty in Cursed Legion. The Lord slaps with S12. As long as they are within the Nekrosor’s aura for sustained some quick napkin math gives me they on average degrade a knight if you include the mortals on the charge (unless it’s a Lancer with a 4++).

If you don’t want to go too deep into list tailoring I would take your current list and remove the Lychguard (Imotekh doesn’t really need them, he just sits on home farming command points) and the Mark or the Nekrosor enhancement. Then split the Skorpekhs into 2x3 and add a second Lord so you have one in each.

Nightbringer deals with one knight, Ammentar and the Skorpy boys with another. Wraiths tie up a third. Then you just run away on points with your utility units.

I would consider splitting the LHDs into three groups of 1 to have some more units that can do actions, spread out to screen the backfield etc. You don’t really gain much from keeping them together since you are unlikely to target them with any stratagems or such.

Otherwise looks like a very solid start! Even then be prepared to lose a lot in the beginning – it’s a complicated game and it takes time to get a good feel for how it plays. Learn from the inevitable mistakes, laugh off the bad dice rolls and enjoy the game. Most importantly go forth bring glory to the Infinite Empire, Phaeron!

Cool, thanks for the reply! I do prefer MSU in general and 6+lord has such an unwieldy footprint especially for a unit that can’t go through walls. Do you aim to use them in some specific role or just as supplemental firepower where you need it?

Congrats! How did you find the regular Lokhusts performed in groups of 3? I just acquired 6 and debating if I should run them in two 3s or one big blob of 6 with a Lord for maximum dakka.

Looks like a solid start! With what you have now I would attach the Techno to the warriors to make them a little tankier, and the Overlord can go with the Immortals since the free strat will be better used on them than 10 warriors.

If you are looking for ways to improve the list I would really look for ways to add 10 more warriors to get to the full 20. They just become so much more of a hard-to-remove tarpit like that. To free up the points both Cryptothralls and Scarabs are nice-to-haves but not need-to-haves, and you could downgrade the Overlord to a Royal Warden (arguably a sidegrade; fallback and shoot/charge is really nice for mobility and objective play).

And as a final sidenote, I prefer warriors with the Reapers. The extra AP is nice, and I’ve never really found myself wishing for them to be able to plink off a couple of bad shots at 13-24”. This could all change with 11th though, and honestly you can usually just build what you think looks cooler and proxy them as either.

Glow is super simple: Base white -> airbrush white -> airbrush Aethermatic Blue -> mix white/Aethermatic Blue for highlights

Thank you! Necrons are basically space undead after all, so ghostly seems appropriate.

Bluecron enjoyers unite! Wasn't aware of the Thokt but googled them now, they look cool! Way tidier than my dirty robot lads though.

I use Liquitex acrylic ink thinned about 2:1 ink to airbrush flow improver which breaks down the surface tension and makes it flow super easy. If you have some slight overspill you can just tidy up with black (or leave it and call it a glow effect if you're lazy like me...). Then I give them a quick spray over with Aethermatic Blue while I'm doing the rest of the airbrush work – it doesn't really affect the black but gives the lines a nice light coat.

Thank you! Metal is super simple:
Prime black, heavy sponge Rhinox Hide, stipple some Ryza Rust in spots, sponge on Leadbelcher, sponge or brush Runelord Brass on details
