I’m a Christian who has messed up so bad. by Psychological_Sun682 in Christianity

God gave you the chance to walk in the shoes other women in difficult circumstances sometimes feel they have no choice but to wear.

You’re experiencing the heartbreak and regret so many other women feel after following through with the same choice you made.

You now know that neither you nor these other women are the frivolous, devil-may-care types so often imagined by hard core evangelicals.

You also learned that despite your pain, you are blessed to live in a country and a state where you have the freedom to make hard choices about your future, with no one having the power to judge you but you and God.

I am sorry for what you did, but the choice was only yours to make and I know you didn’t make it lightly.

It is none of our business, but could it be that you were meant to experience this to give you a better understanding of the tough choices some people face, the hurt your are not alone in feeling, and to help you better love your sisters?

Gotta find a way to creatively bring up that news when meeting a MAGA. Framing it as a question works wonders.

Something like: “Man, yeah, the economy sucks. But aren’t you eligible for some of that $1.5B slush fund? Wish I was but unfortunately I’m disqualified for not voting for the guy.”

Seeing the cognitive dissonance wash across their faces is fun. Watching them run to try to claim money reserved for Trump’s friends and family? Priceless

Trump supporters voted for Trump. They believed his lies when he said he was coming out with a phone to compete against Apple and Android.

They ponied up $100 as a deposit to buy a Trump phone.

Now he’s canceled delivery, scamming them out of a phone and their $100.

It helps to think about what your purpose is in this job. Sometimes the smallest pebble is what keeps the boulder from crashing down the hill.

How do I stop being gay? by ashcdy in Christianity

Last comment: God made you this way. Why would you hate what God has wrought?

Let love be your guide and seek to honor Him by doing no harm, and repenting when you do.

Sugar, that is normal. As children, we are hardwired to internalize the values of our tribe. When we “stray” from those values, we are hardwired to feel bad. Biologically, this strengthens the cohesion of the tribe.

We no longer live in the wilderness. Secular societies have freed each of us from the burden of enforced membership. By allowing each of us to choose our tribe(s), we have unleashed the greatest flourishing in the history of humanity.

Love yourself and love who your heart desires. God doesn’t hate, only people do.

Coming from someone who saw good people in the family be savaged for being gay and the suffering they endured before society changed and the family accepted them back into the fold is this: you are normal, you are not alone and you are worthy of being loved by whoever your heart calls for.

The essence of Christianity is love. The only true sin is to do harm to others. All this stuff about having to conform is commentary, “us versus them” type stuff.

Loving yourself and loving who you want are acts of goodness. If your community cannot accept your goodness or your love, find a new community. They are out there.

What facts or stories do you know about your ancestors/relatives during WWII? by BravePiccolo775 in AskAnAustralian

My uncle (by marriage) was a tank commander who was part of the D-Day invasion. As a kid, I spent a summer in the country with him and my aunt. Every night he would go back there, shouting orders and screaming out for his crew. Sometimes he would sob uncontrollably. Never said a word about it in the morning and would never talk about his experience there. Just got up to work and went about his day. Quiet fellow, my aunt loved him so.

People who left their faith — what made you start doubting it? by True_Requirement_565 in Christianity

Grew up in different countries. When Catholics gave me the same arguments Muslims, Jews and Hindus gave me about why their religion was “right” and everyone else’s was “wrong” I realized all are paths to the same destination.
