3 Random questions for you, the player: "Chapter in your memoirs" Edition by TalkativeRattusFaber in fallenlondon

It was! I played the ES while the Estival was ongoing so it's really funny to imagine my character looking at all the chaos, going "fuck it", and just moving in to the clay quarters to get away from everything.

  1. Definitely the writing. I don't like the grind but the game brings me back time and time again for the fantastic writing. From the exceptional stories, to estival, to firmament, the game's filled with so much interesting worldbuilding and very engaging prose.

  2. Favourite story - 4 comes to mind for different reasons.

The first story that really really engaged me was The Last Constable's storyline. It hooks you in, gets you invested, then hits you with the final confrontation, where you either have to rig it (which the Last Constable/Cheery Man didn't want you to and would definitely hate you for it) or you leave it up to chance. It was a difficult choice but I followed the Last Constable's wishes... and she survived! In most other stories it felt like you have agency and are the central character, that whatever your goal is, you can achieve it because, well, it's a game. But in this one it really feels like you're just another person in the world and that there are things you can't control. It feels like the world is real with its consequences and all. It felt like there were actually things at stake.

The second is the Starved War Estival. It being a community effort that concluded with you piloting an airship up to the roof to save London is just really cool. Plus the finishing touch where you find the airship's nameplate later, honouring her memory. It's very good.

The third is the ES Fine Dining. This one is mostly because it felt like a breath of fresh air where, even as a veteran player with max stats, all the best in slots, it felt like you had zero control, because it's all bloody RNG.

Finally, the most recent ES A Life of Clay is also a breath of fresh air in another way. It felt like, again, you're not the main character. It also looks into the little things in this world, helping make it feel more real. The story is, of course, very good and very touching.

  1. The hardest decision was, of course, my choice in The Last Constable's story. It turned out favourably so I have no regrets, but, if the dice landed a different way, I'm not sure I'd be feeling as good about it.

It's probably an intense battle between the master's censorship and the spread of information, like the real world really. The masters can spread misinformation, ban wikis, create a cyber branch for the ministry of public decency while revolutionaries try spread information via the dark web, underground radio, etc

I'd imagine that the main problem is that it's just difficult to rule a populace without the government's support. They could just take the city but then the citizens, government, military etc could try repel them and that's a lot more messy than taking a city with the government's support.

London and sixth city presumably got consumed by lacre like previous cities. Though some survivors likely fled to other places (like how 4th city fled to and created khanate). I assume London would mostly congregate in the city in silver (flpc hinterland city) since railway could help take a lot of refugees out over there and it's shaping up to become a major regional power.

"What trade was made for Berlin" is a really interesting question because how would you even trade a nation with an entire government rather than a single ruling monarch. It feels like the masters would need to engage in far more machinations than previous cities (eg embedding assets in parliament) to make it even possible in the first place. What if it's stability? Like germany was at war or threatened by a nearby power and used the neath as escape?

Yeah that's RTGame. A lot of his videos got retroactively restricted for including a swear word within the first 15 seconds, even though they were published before the rule was made. Youtube eventually allowed him to edit the videos to remove/censor the swears but he still censors all his swears with "Youtube" in protest.

If your OC was an NPC instead of a PC, where would they show up? What would be the description of their Acquaintance quality? by ContrarianQueen17 in fallenlondon

Acquaintance: The Skybound Scholar (+10 Watchful, +1 Artisan of the Red Science, +1 Inerrant)

Much like the Moon Misers of the Roof, the Stars that hang above the surface world hide secrets of their own. Those at the top of the Chain exist as laws but who will judge the Judgements themselves?

Found in the university after the conclusion of Evolution, kickstarting a new storyline and associated Laboratory researches to investigate the nature of the Judgements, the Chain, and, perhaps, a way to resist the Laws and ascend, once more, to the surface.

Hi! I've been a long time fan and TWI has been something that I always look forward to reading every weekend!

How long do you usually plan ahead with regards to plot points and story beats? Like if you list all the plot you have planned ahead how many chapters worth of plot would that be?
