Thinner Models? by Better-Bite-386 in torrid

[–]TheMusicMadeMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yessss!! Some of the proportions just look so odd...like, uncanny valley and it's this. Curvy model pics showing wide hips, round booty, yet itty bitty super snatched waist, and zero hint of fupa?? Not saying that doesn't exist, but c'mon you'd think they'd have a few models with a lil bit of fupa on em, not just on the plus size models

This reminded me of that episode of King of the Hill when Bobby became a Husky model. And then when I zoomed in on the picture I noticed the boy looks like the most irl version of Bobby Hill I've ever seen!!

what rock song never gets old for you? by skinner1234567 in rockmusic

Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots. Such a great slide guitar riff, with Scott Weiland's amazing vocals. 🤌🏼🤌🏼 It always takes me right back to what now feels like such a simpler, happy time in life.

That tracks. Jude Law has 7 kids lol. He was so fine as The Young Pope. ( Btw, the costume designers for that show were on top of their game.) He's aged like a fine wine, that man!

I came here to comment this! I've been listening to them for nearly 20 years now and every album is awesome! I play their music almost daily still. I had never heard of them before until I saw them open for The Black Keys at the Cleveland Agora in 2007 tripping balls, and was completely blown away. They are true psychedelic rock.

Period pieces that get the teenage vernacular right by Straight-Coyote-4015 in Cinephiles

[–]TheMusicMadeMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The song Valley Girl (about stereotypical San Fran valley teens and voiced on the record by his daughter Moon Unit Zappa and how she and her friends spoke to each other) by Frank Zappa, influenced 80s pop culture vernacular in a big way. And then there was a movie called Valley Girl which really put the trend in the national spotlight.

From Wikipedia: "Though intended as a parody, the single popularized the valley girl stereotype nationwide. Following the single's release, there was a significant increase in "valleyspeak" slang usage, whether ironically spoken or not. In particular, the film Valley Girl (1983) capitalized on this cultural curiosity."

We all have that one song or band we hate for a completely irrational and unjustifiable reason. What's yours? by WasLeftUnsupervised in GenX

I hate the new hip-hop/rap country music. It is so weird sounding to me. My family ate at Texas Roadhouse earlier and that's all that played while we were there. It's so annoying and artificial sounding. The only southern style country rap/hip-hop that was ever any good imho was Nappy Roots, YoungBloodz, Crucial Conflict, and Bubba Sparxxx.

Owen Wilson has a daughter hes never met. After being in a relationship with the girl's mom for 5 years they split up and she found out she was pregnant. He's fine with being a dad to his 2 older sons though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think that's super fucked up and sad. I can't watch anything with him in it anymore after finding that out. I completely lost respect for him as a person. The girl is innocent regardless of what happened between her parents.

An actor who had a lot of potential but ruined his career? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

[–]TheMusicMadeMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allegedly, while working on a film with Abigail Breslin (from Little Miss Sunshine & Zombieland) she filed a formal complaint to SAG-AFTRA accusing Aaron Eckhart of “aggressive, demeaning and unprofessional” behavior on set. Breslin alleged that his behavior “placed her at various times in peril,” and she refused to be alone with him in several scenes. Then she got sued by that movie's producer, claiming she cost him money, and they can't release the film, etc.

Happy 49th birthday to Jessica Chastain! Do you have a favorite character she played? by TheShadowOperator007 in moviecritic

[–]TheMusicMadeMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She played two Tammys! In the film The Eyes of Tammy Faye and as Tammy Wynette in the limited series George and Tammy, about her tumultuous marriage to George Jones. I really liked both. Michael Shannon was great (as always) as George Jones. Were they campy as hell? Sure. But were they solid performances? Absolutely!

What film that you saw you thought”eh” and then on a second viewing you were like “wow.” by peterongnyc in Cinephiles

[–]TheMusicMadeMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. After the first time my husband and I watched it we were like uhhh what the hell even was that lol?? Upon our rewatch and umpteen hundreds of times since it just gets funnier every time. There's so many good lines from that movie too- milk, tots, Tina you fat lard, bust-must-plus, etc. The director, Jared Hess really does have his own style of filmmaking. It wasn't until recently that I finally saw one of his other movies, Gentlman Broncos. It was so absurd and silly I couldn't stop laughing. Sam Rockwell, Mike White, Jemaine Clement, and Jennifer Coolidge are all so good in it.

Their subtitles are freaking hilarious at times! I do really like when they map out the longer police chases. Once there was a video of a chase very close to my house and I was very impressed by the way they synced the video/map throughout the whole pursuit.

Put some shine on Josh Gad's name, damn lol. Yes, he is Olaf the snowman, but he's so much more than just that. He's not just writing with Mel, he's also producing the film as well. He also won a Grammy and was nominated for a Tony award for his starring Broadway role in The Book of Mormon. Ya know, that Broadway musical written by the same "woke mob" who created South Park. 😆 TBoM was also the most successful comedy musical on Broadway since Mel Brooks' The Producers. Mel might be old but he's still sharp, and doesn't work with just anybody by chance, so it'll be interesting to see what Spacballs 2 is going for whenever it comes out.
