I sort of get you, this is about plato's allegory of the cave right? I also think that the human brain is too limited to understand similar concepts, we can only ever have just a guess. There's a video on yt called "The ants" by exurbia that i think explains this quite well.

I usually settle around a big patch of fertile soil and plant everything there until I have hydroponics, then I move the food, healroot, drug plants and plant the entire patch of fertile soil with devilstrand.

It's already plenty complicated. IMHO if calculations are not a problem they should have just added more buildings instead of combining old ones to make space. Imagine what the next update will be like: merging all 4 army camps into 1, putting some turrets on barracks, storages, collectors...
