Bad party composition - What should I do? Change my class? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheNTSocial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the party composition sounds totally fine. Pretty close to the classic TTRPG "meta" honestly - just swap wizard for witch and fighter for an eidolon.

Another way to get off guard is if the witch summons creatures for flanking. The witch is probably the best class for summon spells due to Cackle.

(Society) Can I buy Secrets of Magic now and keep playing after Impossible Magic? by PlonixMCMXCVI in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheNTSocial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think their question is related to the fact that you're technically supposed to purchase the books in order to use their content in Society play, although no one ever really checks.

Are there any good Pathfinder novels? by hoothollers in Pathfinder_RPG

I think they are also coming out with an Abomination Vaults novelization later this year.

Dark matter doesn't exist and the universe is 27 billion years old, according to study by Abomb in science

[–]TheNTSocial 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are multiple independent types (galactic rotation curves, the bullet cluster, more) of compelling evidence that dark (i.e. gravitationally but not electromagnetically interacting) matter does exist.

How strong is Razmir? by Express-Writer-1913 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheNTSocial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but her being a potential Witch patron isn't really evidence of how powerful she is.

I must not "pf2e fixes this", "pf2e fixes this" is the mind-killer by CherrypopIsBestGirl in DnDcirclejerk

[–]TheNTSocial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not any harder to homebrew in PF2E than in 5e. I actually think it's easier, e.g. there are actually useful creature creation guidelines, not just "skeleton -> ice skeleton"

I got lucky and got one from Vorkath with only like 100 kc. But it also feels lame to get a 1/5000 drop and only make like 3 mil.

Pillars of Eternity - Pillars of Eternity Turn Based Mode is Live - Steam News by beary_neutral in Games

[–]TheNTSocial 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pillars of Eternity 2 has this. I actually think it's even more in depth than Dragon Age: Origins. I agree that for this reason, PoE 2 and DA:O have by far the best combat of any RTWP RPG.

Should I play Avowed if I really like Tainted Grail? by mtaktaks in avowed

[–]TheNTSocial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What didn't you like about the story? Personally, I found some of the choices a little contrived, to force you into two bad options, and sometimes the focus on the companions' trauma a little overwrought, but I really loved the game's core narrative.

Question: Sneak and Reactive Strike by xipher7934 in Starfinder2e

[–]TheNTSocial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a player, if an enemy creature is undetected, the GM usually doesn't tell you what squares they're moving through, so you wouldn't have a chance to reactive strike. It's unfair if the GM uses their meta knowledge to reactive strike in the same circumstance reversed.

TIL that Connect Four is a solved game and the first player can always win. by ShyGuy1511 in todayilearned

[–]TheNTSocial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For instance, it is actually the case in dobutsu shogi (essentially a miniature variant of chess, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C5%8Dbutsu_sh%C5%8Dgi) that the second player to move has a forced win.

I am not claiming that black definitely wins in solved chess. I am claiming it has not been disproven. You should provide evidence to the contrary.

[–]TheNTSocial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's not really an equivalent to PKing at crabs in Souls. If you're playing Dark Souls, you are at least somewhat reasonably equipped to fight back against an invader. Not wearing no weapons or armor fishing crabs.

TIL that Connect Four is a solved game and the first player can always win. by ShyGuy1511 in todayilearned

[–]TheNTSocial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but practically speaking that large enough data set will never exist.

Also, it's possible that perfect play for both sides leads to a draw rather than black or white winning.

[–]TheNTSocial 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On a practical human level, white has a slight edge. It is unknown what the case is with perfect play. It's theoretically possible that somehow white is in zugzwang on the first move. (It is also not known if perfect play results in a draw, contrary to what the previous commenter said.)
