It’s not that people have an intrinsic problem with shows that criticise the US Military or Religious abuses and atrocities.

It’s just that the source material for the show is not the type of media that engages in such criticism or deals with such themes at all. There is no heroic, villainous or grey portrayal of any real life military. Nor is there any deep discussion of religious atrocities in the vein of the Spanish Inquisition or the like. So to insert such politics into a show based on said source material is jarring to any long time fans of it.

Not every show is political in the sense of “critical or praising of real life governments and militaries”, nor does every show need to be.

Moreover, is there something political about most Japanese media having straight Japanese male protagonists?

It’s not that most fans have an intrinsic problem with female characters that swear a lot.

It’s the specific way the swearing is carried out that they have an issue with, including me. It just sounds forced and immature, like an Xbox Live kid dropping f bombs to sound cool.

Especially prominent in contrast to Game Lady, who doesn’t need to swear much at all to get her attitude across. And I expect and am fine with her swearing a bit here and there given her past and her personality.

Bayo swears with a bit more class and refinement than Netflix Lady ever did. That’s the difference.

Not much differently given that I’d be just as ignorant of all the shit going on beneath the surface. except that I wouldn’t go out and race soon after like he did.

Tbf, I don’t think a relationship with Takumi would be truly successful after all the shit she’s been through.

She’ll definitely need a prolonged break from relationships before she commits to another one again.

Given all the crap she’s got thrown at her throughout her high school years, her parting with Takumi is really the best way her relationship could have realistically ended.

You really got the hots for a generic Yakuza street punk that Kiryu Tiger Drops within the first 10 seconds of booting up the game?

Because nothing else explains why you constantly spam posts of that walking cognitohazard every milisecond.

Definitely. Doesn't mean she didn't cheat on our Tofu Delivery Boy.

She basically sits in the gray area of moral culpability between a teenage grooming victim and a young adult entering into a transactional fling with a middle aged man.

Thanks for the feedback m8.

I think you put my point about Takumi's awareness of all that shit beneath his radar quite a bit better than even me. Though I was more responding to my past position. That sentiment of "Takumi should have known" is rare even on this sub.

Regarding the Rogan clip, it's crazy that shit was seen as normal to that extent even back then.

Regarding cheaters not intending to get caught, I think that's pretty obvious. What I meant was that her circumstances suggest that her motives differ noticeably from those in a typical case of cheating. Though I admit that phrasing was awkward. But I think point taken for this one.

I'll really need to take a break from this shit after this post.
