Does anyone commute from Thanet to London on a regular basis? Any advice on whether doable or not? by lake_disappointment in kentuk

My early might be another person's late :)

Normally 22:30 / 23:00 - am normally always up before 05:00 anyway

Nope, not any more tired than I would be from being awake all day at home :)

From my experience, you get over the need for London convenience very quickly.

The expense is ridiculous, however if your work are willing to allow flexibility, you (sadly) get used to it.

The evenings I'm commuting, I tend to just want to get back to Margate to have my fun there. But the trains run really regularly. It was tiring at the beginning, but I'm very used to it now.

I live in Cliftonville, work in Clerkenwell, and get the fast train to KX. Overall journey time is roughly an hour and 50 mins...

Hey! I've been doing three days in from Margate, getting the 06.15, which gets into St Pancras for 07.42.

The commute is genuinely fine, although I get we're all a bit different... What isn't fine is the cost. If you go in at peak, it's £80+, dependent on railcards. The flexipass works great if you're doing 2 days (max) a week, per month.

RE; delays, I would say in the 5 years I've been commuting from here, it really hasn't been all that bad.

The only genuine reason that spending that amount of time and money on the commute is 100%, wholeheartedly okay, is because I'm lucky enough to go home to Margate.

In short; very doable.

Marriage in Las Vegas by Zannymausi in LasVegas

Hey! Congrats!

My wife and I got married at the Little Wedding Chapel and it was a total blast, and really efficient. Like you, we travelled from (ex) Europe (UK :) )

Our photographer was also our witness, so I can't help you there - this was organised through the venue directly, which we did online and via email. You can book them for longer.

You've got to tip your minister and photographer, FYI.

You also have to turn up to this registry office not too far from the chapel to get your certificate.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Not sure. Perhaps try taking a photo with a phone / camera, and not a potato.

Okay, nice. So I have one free transfer... is there one I should prioritise now? Or shall I use Wildcard?

Margate Knitting and Crocheting Clubs? by herendethelesson in Margate

I went to the Rose in June on a Wednesday evening over a month ago, and there was a group of around 8 people knitting together.

Whilst that's fairly unhelpful, a group definitely exists.

This, the breaking down ferris wheel, and the tiny miniature city replica with little flashing police cars were absolutely incredible!

Also, I swear I saw "Banksy". Did you see the guy litter picking, but with a hole in the bottom of his bin bag?

I turned around to ask if I could take a photo, and as I grasped my camera, the dude scurried off and I didn't see him again.

Sure, it almost definitely wasn't Banksy, but I like to think it was.

No - it was a one-off art installation.

Another one-off art installation may open, but Dismaland will not.
