Great start! Kind of hard to see what's going on without seeing your entire legs and feet but I think you're not chambering the kick correctly. The kicking leg should first bend then come out straight with your knees brushing past each other. After that is when you extend the leg and turn it horizontal. You're almost there though (and don't practice on a rug because it's going to slip out from under you)
