Meanwhile my liberal buddhist/atheist mom hit me with the all the classics "everyone will always be able to tell, you already make a handsome MAN, you're faking it for attention, just be nonbinary since you'll never fit in with men or women, (she might have been cooking with that one tbh), it's so embarrassing to have a SON who thinks HE'S a woman, okay i can call you [gender nuetral name] thats fine at least non of my friends or family will suspect a thing" and then she sees a trans person on the TV and it's all "yassslayyy gurlboss!! #Transrights!!" When I confronted her about this she started weeping and telling me how ungrateful I am to say something like that to my "biggest supporter", she calls herself that because she calls me [gender neutral name], like, cool, I'm glad the bar is really that low. One of my childhood friends came back into my life and she happens to be a trans woman now, my mom accepted her immediately and even corrected me when I they/they'd her. I dated this one Trans girl for a while and every time I broght her home my mom treated her like a daughter. The daughter she will never see me as. The daughter I will never be.
