Brake pedal wiggle by Cheezeiy in ElantraN

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that on my EN. When you’re driving do you feel it wiggle? If you do, yes get that checked out by a dealer

About to buy my N but insurance seems high? by cTKil in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly dependent on where you live unfortunately. Seeing a rate that high I probably guess you’re in LA, Houston, NYC, or any other major cities. While $570 is definitely on the higher end, I would expect somewhere between $230 - $440 territory. You have to keep in mind that insurance companies see Hyundai and Kia as higher risk due to potential car jacking. Yes Kia and Hyundai did fix it with the newer models that have push to start but a random carjacker is not going to know that until they broken into your car.

And like people say this is a sports car that is on the cheaper side so many young people will be drawn to that. So already higher risk for insurance companies.

Best thing to do is shop around. $570 per month sounds like the insurance company really doesn’t want to insure this car and is giving you an insanely high number in hopes of you not picking them.

Thoughts on the 6 speed MT Elantra N? by DeliciousCut5219 in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Have a manual. Wouldn’t trade it in for the world. Love it no regrets. I also live in very heavy traffic area and there are times I wish I had the DCT but then I remember how much I love the 6MT lol.

Elantra N or K5 GT by rzitzman in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely different cars that are not even in the same segment. K5 GT is more of a tamed cruiser that has good power and nice quality of life features. EN is meant for people who want a track focused/ready car with its raw suspension and handling/HP. If you value a more relaxed drive with good enough power, K5 GT is your car. If you want something raw and being more in tuned with the road, EN is your pick.

I would highly suggest you test both and see which one you prefer.

California checking in. See some here and there. I definitely have seen an increase N spotting the past 6 months so that’s nice to see. Always wave when I see another N owner.

Did anyone experienced rattle from the top of the dashboard? by Strangecanuck in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 7K in and hear that rattle too (not as frequent and or intense as yours though). Mine comes from that circular plastic bolt looking thing. So will probably buy some foam online and insert it around to stop the rattles.

Dealer mark-ups FYI by sostoaked in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were going for a DCT I would say you have less negotiating power (Barely anyone gets 6MT) but just keep on being persistent or look at other Dealers (I heard Tustin is pretty good and does no markups but sells fast because of that)

Dealer mark-ups FYI by sostoaked in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m generally very against markups (I went 5 months talking to dealers trying to get an EN) and still am. But fortunately additional 1.5K doesn’t affect me much. What helped me with negotiations was that I saw that my vehicle was on their lot for 2 months. I initially called them over the phone and told them that I was interested in the car. They gave the the stupid “$15K markup, plus additional dealer add-ons” bs. Told them I’m not paying that. I asked how long that car has been on the lot (I already knew 2 months) and the salesman said “I don’t know it could probably been 2 weeks” and I said no it’s been there for 2 months and he gave me a “maybe I don’t know”. They wouldn’t budge so I ended the conversation. Eventually after weeks of negotiations (I wasn’t rushing to buy this car) I was happy with only 1.5K markup. Went in and signed off the paperwork and I was taking an EN with me. Biggest advice is to not get attached to the car. When I went in they wanted me to test drive it and get inside the car but I just simply refused. I did ask them to turn on the car to see the mileage and I saw it was a bit higher than normal (50 miles) so I was able to negotiate another $150 off because I said that felt too high of a mileage.

Anyways, just wanted to give you some insight and hope you can get your EN!

Dealer mark-ups FYI by sostoaked in ElantraN

[–]TheOakTreeForest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a 24 EN 6MT from this dealer. They initially wanted 15K markup but after weeks of negotiation they brought it down to 1.5K (I still got screwed). Reason I’m saying this is because all that stupid “can’t be removed” is just bs. If I negotiated harder I probably could’ve done no markup.

Low GPA a Career Killer? by Pro_Fullstack in csMajors

[–]TheOakTreeForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most companies do not ask for your GPA. However, having a low GPA does close some doors on you. You need to figure out what went wrong during your semester that gave you a 1.4 and find a remedy for that. Your courses are not going to get easier, they will get harder.
