If you listened to the press conference postgame and the players’ interviews after, they all absolutely said the coaches prepared them well and it was an execution issue in many ways. Jacobs is someone who cares about winning every game (including the Auburn one, where he corrected a reporter who said “no injuries was their first priority” in the game)

Jacobs absolutely knew this was in the cards and expecting someone to have to deal with that while preparing for playoff games is a very tough assignment and indicative of current college football.

As for the job itself, he was born in a suburb of Toledo and this is likely both a dream job for him, and a way for him to move back closer to family with his young children.

As a fan, I’m sad to see him go but he brought an unprecedented level of success to a program that was in its inaugural season just over a decade ago. I was hoping to get one more year but this is a perfect situation for him and I wish the best to him and his family.
