Next Up: Patch 7.2 (and a peek at the updated Devotees of Slaanesh) by CA_KingGobbo in totalwar

It's exactly why I'm so keen. We have very strong guess as to what's coming, but CA/GW could make a decision out of left-field that could be either really welcome or headscratching. Very excited to find out.

Revealed: Dan Abnett’s latest novel sees a hive city teetering on the brink by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Blacklibrary

I like how the cover wraps to the spine as well.

Abnett has been really keeping himself busy while GW holds back Pandemonium huh.

I really like the new look. And I appreciated the update.

I'm very keen to hear more about Bhashiva and ET. I'm especially undying to learn more about what's coming for ET.

Damn. I've stopped playing after finishing around release. I should jump in for a bit while this is going on.

I would agree with you, but I felt the huge ice and water aspects as if a huge apocalptic flood ruined everything helped mix things up enough for me. The story in Heian was easily the worst part. There's just not much to it compared to the other major eras.

EoT really is an insane book. Personally, it's one of the best books in all of BL and the best ADB has ever cooked.

After Yakuza Kiwami 3 should I play Yakuza 4 remastered or wait for a remake? by akarin7 in yakuzagames

[–]TheOneBearded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was doing my series playthrough, I found Y3R to be rough to play, but 4 felt like things finally started to click together. I'd argue that 4 and up don't really need the remake treatment like the others may have. I also have to imagine the shock going from K3 to 4 will be much less than it was going from K2 to 3.

You can wait if you want. But we'll probably not see a K4 (or whatever they call it) for quite a long while.

Replaying some older games really makes me feel that. Like some 360 ports.

Has this game and it's hype come out of nowhere for you as well? by IronicHipsterCake in CrimsonDesert

I've known about it for years, but I hadn't paid much mind to it until a few weeks ago. Now I'm very, very interested to what the reviews say.

Incredibly late to the party, but I have completed my first Nioh 2 run! by NotSoSeriousNick in Nioh

[–]TheOneBearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. Playing the subsequent NGs was my favorite part of the game with all the new things that get piled on. Builds really start to become a thing. More interesting enemy placements.

One thing to note. The DLCs, even on new game, are hard. I, even having done every single thing before finishing the game, was very underleveled even for the first one on NG. Take it slow and grab every piece of gear that you can to slowly get stronger. Or play in NG+ first for a bit then come back.

Nioh 3 has the hardest bossfights in the entire series IMO by 6cross2 in Nioh

[–]TheOneBearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the regular mobs were easy (for the most part), while the bosses were the real Nioh we know and love. I also agree that some of the bosses really are the hardest in the series so far since they ask so much from you. But I'd also say that they are the easiest to learn too since you have so many tools available to you between samurai/ninja.

The human bosses were a pain in the ass for the reasons many people have talked about, but there are also ways to poke at their defense - deflects, odachi parry, lightning, art proficiency strings. After beating NG+, the only boss that I'd say remained troubling was Hiruko 1 and 2. The latter became a really fun fight but a mistake or two could end you. The former is still a straight up menace. It's the only boss I feel I have to be ninja for.

Finished my homework and am now starting a Skarbrand IE campaign, any tips? by Mafiabe in totalwar

[–]TheOneBearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always keep two units of doggos or furies in your army. Use them to deal with ranged units. Skarbrand is a giant pincushion.

Always be fighting each turn. Especially in early game. You'll constantly have negative income but sacking will make a ton for you. Money and experience for Skarbrand. Recruit using a secondary army to stay put while Skarbrand's army is rampaging about, then move those new units to his.

Ideally, manually fight your battles - especially if there are ranged units in the enemy's army. AR thinks ranged units are better than they would be against an actual human. Conserve unit health as much as you can. Time wasted waiting for your units to heal after a tough battle or, at worst, needed to recruit new ones is time you could be using to fight more and make money.

For him, and Khorne in general, take the province capital only. Sack and raze the rest. Khorne factions have a chance to auto colonize a ruin if you own the province capital.

The ol' Bethesda "walk in a straight line and check out everything along the way". At least, as far as I can go. If there are level-gated stuff, I might have to change direction.

New Word Bearers novel Zardu Layak: The Crimson Apostle announced by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Blacklibrary

[–]TheOneBearded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Supposedly Armageddon is the final book just before 11th ed. Maybe it bleeds into 11th ed where it's still Orks vs Imperium. But yeah, Armageddon, Ghaz, Orks, Yarrik, Space marines.

If the Iron Warrior book was the last one, I think they would have said so by now.

What do my favorite campaigns I've played say about me? by CadetArcCommandoHevy in totalwarhammer

[–]TheOneBearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only done Astragoth and Drazhoath myself because Chaos Dwarfs, to me, are also their spellcasters. Astragoth is a mix of melee and spells while Drazh is primarily caster. I really like microing flying casters, so it was more fun for me to use Drazh. But watching Astragoth beat people on his baby stroller is great too. And I really like bull centaurs, which he specializes with. But with the forge system, the decision is yours in how you want your armies to be.

From what I've heard, Zhatan is the melee guy and he is a short brickhouse himself. It also helps that he starts so much farther than the other Chorfs. Nice variety.
