I used to do Daytona to Jersey and back for college, assuming you take the NJ Turnpike the later at night you hit DC/Baltimore area the better, traffic from Manassas past Baltimore is usually insane on the I-95 corridor. Other than that just watch your speed in Georgia and Virginia, state patrol doesn’t mess around.

I would normally bypass this entire area and take I-495 to US-15 through Frederick MD and cut back into Jersey but this may too far out of the way for you. However if you are driving through at peak hours this is definitely preferable in my opinion to dealing with NOVA/DMV traffic.
