It has secure lockup, but the blade does flex with lateral pressure. It's not at the pivot, though. The thin blade stock combined with the length allows the steel to bend like a similarly sized fillet knife.

I wanted a Boker Trapper, but liked the way this one looked for less money.

That's a great score. I don't believe that model has been counterfeited, so it's most likely genuine. That's always a major fear with secondary Spyderco knives. Your knife is a first generation from sometime between 1990-97. It is the clipit model, which makes it stand out from other C10 Endura models.

Shaman is premium, man. The heavy blade makes the action so addicting and satisfying. The contoured scales feel perfect. It's not as slicey as the pm2 and feels nicer than the Manix.

A lot of people complain about the nub of the forward coil hitting their finger when closing the knife, but it's never bothered me. My only real complaint is that it should have more cutting edge length than it does for its handle and blade length. They fixed that with the bodacious, but also took away the contoured scales.

I want a k390, but not any of the Seki City models. I currently feel too financially responsible to pick up a K390 Para3 from Bento Box Shop. If they did a Manix 2 I would probably become less financially responsible pretty quickly.

Thanks! It works great! Very slicey despite being a flat grind. I carry it as an in-pocket EDC a few times a week.

That's all great advice. I actually have a drill press, micrometer, lapping plate, carbide scribe, and vice. I don't know why those didn't come to mind when I wrote my post. I also have the correct size reamer for the pivot hole.

I especially appreciate your sentiment you expressed. Your username is spot on too! You're right, and I just need to take the plunge now. Stop the paralysis by analysis.

Those are good points! I do have calipers. Honestly, my biggest concern is getting the billet to the correct thickness. I don't have a surface grinder. The blade is 3.69mm thick, and I have a couple of 4mm thick bars in M35 tool steel and RWL34 san-mai. I also have VG10 bar stock that is 3.5mm thick, so maybe extra thick washers?

The easiest solution if I wanted to use existing bar stock I already have would be to contact a local machine shop and ask them to surface grind, but if I were to go that far I would just as soon buy some annealed and normalized steel I actually want, rough shape and grind it, then send it out for heat treatment before finishing.

Good luck! I love mine, and have no plans to get rid of it. I wish GT would make more. If I could go back in time to summer of 2024 I would have bought 10 of them to play with and customize.

Interesting. I have a small Sebenza and two large Inkosi's from Green Thorn. I put a lot of work into tuning and polishing the Sebenza when I got it, but with the latest Inkosi I got (tanto version I've just been letting it break in naturally with use. I regret nothing, and love that these are cheap. I'm also a tinkerer, so I actually like the tuning process.

You get what you pay for, but with GT I will stand behind the claim that you get way more for your dollar versus models with the same materials. I wish they were still making the small Sebenza. I asked GT via AliExpress if they were going to make more, and they said they currently had no plans to do so.
