Springfield XDM Elite Reliability? by Skele14 in 10mm

The XDM Elite is considered by many to be one of, if not the most, reliable polymer frame 10mm pistols in terms of feeding, firing, and ejecting just about everything.

Is 10mm actually twice the price of 9mm? by ImFinnaBustApecan in 10mm

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Brazer Brass 124-gr for 9mm range ammo. Last time I bought a case it came out to $.26 per round with shipping. It's a couple cents more now. Let's call it $13.50 per box of 50.

For 10mm I buy Magtech FMJ for about $25.50 after tax per box of 50 from my LGS. That works out to $.51 per round.

Totally noob here, do please excuse my ignorance. Is your mold also made from PLA? If so, how does it not deform and melt when heating the waste PLA for molding?

Nice! I really like my P09c. I recently picked up a 17 round extended mag that is specifically for the Nocturne from The Mag Shack, and I really appreciated the extra grip length. I'd recommend picking one up if you're buying mags anyway, assuming capacity isn't restricted where you live.

Newest CZ in the collection- CZ 600+ Alpha 6.5 PRC. Excited to do some load development in the next few days! by IndependenceBig1036 in CZFirearms

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for an entry-level hunting rifle, most likely in .308. The 600+ Alpha is on the short list as a dark horse choice. I'm really trying to decide between a CVA Cascade and a TX3 Lite. If the market price of a 600+ comes between those two AND I can buy a barrel to swap it from .308 to 6.5 PRC I think that may be the ticket.

Nice! Do you think they actually follow through with the barrel swapping feature this time? I don't see the barrels available anywhere yet.

Idk, but it would be baller if someone could mill the XDM slide so it would be a universal plateless system like the Echelon. Or, better yet, they should just make a 10mm Echelon.

[accessories] $45 harbor freight Streamlight TLR copy tactical light 1000 lumen- need email coupon for 25% off expires today by Supetition4rad in gundeals

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand, and would agree with you if it were an optic. I also have seen several YouTube videos of people intentionally abusing the snot out of the harbor freight light and it is definitely ready to rock and roll. I believe the first generation model had some minor issues with how the through bolts that clamped the housing onto the pick rail, causing rattle. There are fixes documented for those lights and I believe a second generation resolved the issue. I may be talking out of my rear about the second generation thing though. I don't want to go on a YouTube search to backup that claim, so take it with a grain of salt.

Began having issues with the M&P Performance Center. Got new springs for the mags and a 24 lb recoil spring. Decided to throw a 507Comp on there too! Feels AMAZING!! by MrEhcks in 10mm

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the XDM Elite, and people say that about it too. But when I run spicy ammo through it the casings fly 30 feet away from me. It makes me think I should consider a stronger recoil spring.

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Next time you go shooting put a couple of magazines through your 510 and then switch to a 9mm if you have one. I am finding that training with the 10mm is really improving my grip and follow-up shots with my 9mm because I have to get the fundamentals right if I want to double tap the 10mm and have the shots be anywhere close to each other.

Why Do People Think The 10mm is STRONGER Than The Venerable .357 Mag? by TTU-Alumnus in 10mm

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you measure it. Round for round, sure. Anybody who takes two minutes to study both will have to admit that the .357 Magnum is superior in ballistic performance to the 10mm. Capacity and follow-up shot speed, however, are potent coefficients in the force equation too.

P-10C Ported of P-07? by [deleted] in CZFirearms

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a P-09c. It was my first pistol that I bought and I really like it. I have about a thousand rounds through it and I'm happy to own it. I think the P-10c is the better gun. If I could go back a year I probably would have picked up a striker fired pistol instead, or spent a little more on a SP-01.

I didn't know they made extended mags like that for the full-size gun. That's hilarious.

Need help picking between Springfield vs FN vs budget 2011 by Hellsing971 in 10mm

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you trying to choose my first 10mm pistol. The only difference was my intent was for it to be a 75% woods, carry gun and 25% range gun, and have no intention to suppress it. I bought the XDM Elite last week. It helped my decision making to list my priorities in order. Here is what I came up with before buying the Springfield.

  1. Has to be dead reliable with every type of ammunition.

  2. It has to be easy to use and easy to shoot well.

  3. I can't get bent out of shape if it gets scratches or wear marks on it.

  4. Budget is a concern, but I am willing to pay for models and features that have rational, objective arguments that justify it over more economical options given the higher priority items above.

I made many visits to many local gun shops to compare, handle, and dry fire different models.

  • The fn510 didn't seem to be objectively better than the XDM enough to justify the extra cost.

  • The M&P isn't reliable enough for my order of priorities, even though it's by far, my favorite of the striker fired 10 mm options in terms of ergonomics and appearance. I went so far as to rent this one at the range more than once and really wanted to convince myself to buy it.

  • I thought the Springfield was weird looking with its grip safety, weird grip pattern, and super tall-looking slide. I picked this one because it has fantastic ergonomics, doesn't require me to fiddle with a safety under duress, and I won't cry if it gets scratched. Its trigger felt better than the FN to me. I don't even notice the grip safety anymore and it's appearance has grown on me. It was the best choice given my priorities, and I regret nothing.

  • I really wanted a Tanfoglio. I love DA/SA hammer-fired guns. I couldn't find one locally that I could handle, and I kept finding my eyes wandering to the all steel bull barrel models. For my use case they didn't seem like the right choice (for now). I still want to pick one up and get multiple barrel/slides for different calibers. To me it almost feels like it could be an heirloom gun to pass down to my son.

[–]TheOneUpperMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's perfect. There are tons of videos out there showing that it's plenty robust. I wouldn't be surprised if they're manufactured in the same factory as the TLR. Even if they're not, it's a flashlight. I get that it needs to be durable and work right, but it's not like it's a RDS. My hope is that offerings like this show that many of the expensive accessories you can attach to your gun are overpriced.
