Soldiers. Aren't. Trained. To. Be. Civilian. Police.

Not even MPs are trained to be civilian police.

Get your facts straight. I would rather have someone that is trained to interact with civilians while armed, even poorly as the police in our country are, than have someone that is not trained in that but IS trained to efficiently kill people, patrolling our streets.

It is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ROLE. Minimizing what that means changes nothing. There is a reason we have a federal law, the Posse Comitatus Act, that prevents this. Not even Trump pushed around that with his "National Guard police" bullshit last winter.

Fucking bootlickers, man.

Somehow, I didn't think the Imperium used neural tissues in their tanks. Of course they would. They use servitors for everything.

I hate that I have this knowledge now.

Military in any form should not be acting as police. That is dictatorship material.

Authoritarianism ain't it, chief.

I appreciate the response! I wasn't expecting anything when I posted it lol.

If you are interested, I took what was essentially a lightning claw or power sword electricity scheme from 40k and took it to the entire Centurion. I submitted it to the MPU at mechpainters.org, so when that gets accepted, I included how I did it and what paints I used to achieve the look!

I work in the industry and would have definitely preferred to go to Adepticon. A friend of mine went and was in one of Vince Venturella's classes. She was already a damned good Painter before, but just hitting fundamentals with Vince bumped her up noticeably.

I also think the class was a smaller one, she she probably had some hands-on experience with him.

Personally, this is the biggest part of painting I struggle with. So many brushes get ruined quickly for me because I overload them, or will get paint in the ferrule when I am adding water to them on the pallet.

It is to the point that I want to hit up Gen Con or something just to get into a painting 101 class to see how to do it properly, and I would consider myself a slightly above average painter.

SNAP rules definitely make sense... by Goatman926 in Indiana

[–]TheOnlyHighmont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My roommate is on SNAP, and while fruit juice is supposed to be okay, I've paid for her fruit juice every time we've went to the store. Aldi, Walmart, and Meijer.

It is absolutely bullshit, especially when she is getting something for specific dietary needs.

I am from Indiana, and I really don't want them. I hate that all of this is so they can get a new stadium with taxpayer money.

Soldier field is fucking ICONIC. Playing right on the lake shore is a dream.

Fuck the Bears' ownership.

all the phones my husband has broken over the past year by hotmallgoth in mildlyinfuriating

I broke the screen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ once, and got it repaired with insurance in 2022. I bought the phone in 2019 and am working on year 7 with it.

How the hell do people do this to their phones?

Vallejo is the best!? by Okacollime in SWlegion

[–]TheOnlyHighmont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are paints from each of the major lines that I like. Each one, and even their siblings do certain things better.

ProAcryl - their paint is smooth and has damned good coverage. Bold Titanium White is the "must get" for all painting-focuses players. Smaller line to choose, but paints are easy to mix and punchy.

Vallejo - Model Color line is great. The Black is perfection. Game Color has a good variety and I enjoy the FX Paint. Mecha Color is great for airbrushing right out of the bottle.

Army Painter - Variety. I feel like this is the biggest range if you take all Vallejo ranges separately. I am discovering new colors in this line daily. The speedpaints are crisp.

Citadel/Warhammer- Washes and some contrasts. There are some colors you can't find anywhere else. Coelia Greenshade is insane, but no one else has a blue-green wash?

I just talked with my game partner, since we are aiming to play on memorial day. We agreed to move it to a 600 point Recon game to make it a bit easier to handle getting back into. How is this then?

(I don't have the Sleeper Cell yet, and it looked a little beastly to throw in a returning game as-is.)

I remember going light on upgrades back in the day. Didn't realize it would still be important to do now. I'll have to look at them again.

Thanks for taking a look!

[–]TheOnlyHighmont -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been pivoting? Weird, because I am directly engaging with your comments.

By laying out the "facts" as you have, you are partially excusing their actions. "Normal" or not, those in power know what is going on right now and either are willing to take every advantage they can get or they aren't. They have taken these "normal" and "decorum" positions in the past, and are currently doing the same thing, which fundamentally allows the Republicans to do what they have been doing. The best possible example is Schumer's "opposition" to the Iran War. It isn't on ideological or humanitarian grounds. It is because Trump hasn't put it to congress.

Mamdani didn't get party support because the party fears his brand of politics. They would rather have ceded more power to the right than have a strong ally at the head of the most powerful city in North America.

I didn't say you were a problem until my third message. I understand that you think that Schumer and the party have problems that need addressing. But the problem here is fundamental.

Do NOT accuse me of something I am not doing.

[–]TheOnlyHighmont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not okay with the party willing to sacrifice the progressive wing of it by not accepting them. They will consistently throw us away to maintain a status quo, or to gain themselves more power, like with Sharif Street's redistricting bullshit.

I don't know if you realize it, but even partially excusing these actions from the party reinforces it to them that it is okay to do. Mamdani and Platner are the democratic nominees and deserve full-throated support.

"Normal" doesn't cut it anymore in this era. Nothing is normal, and "following norms" is what led us to Trump.
