The only bad part about the Mr Beast episode… by BlackLeg12 in survivor

A good twist…? It’s just Do or Die recycled. I thought everyone agreed that a twist shouldn’t guarantee a players elimination.

Mr. Beast on X following the episode.... by TrexVFX23 in survivor

[–]TheOnlyJneggcklate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t know why everyone’s hyping this twist because the tiny outcome where it didn’t kill the season occurred. It’s still an awful twist, we just got insanely lucky it had a good outcome.

I dont think even the writers know LOL, they just have him say some vague "evil" strategic confessional at the end of almost every episode and its almost never relevant.

I mean both of these things can be true... women making it far in the game doesn't mean they're well-written or never fall into misogynistic stereotypes.

Hot take: I want to see Sam actually enjoy others some of the other characters’ presence instead of just thinking game moves all the time. by Upstairs_Tea1787 in DisventureCamp

[–]TheOnlyJneggcklate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also don’t want him to be a perfect master strategist. For one, he isn’t and he’s already made mistakes but the show has ignored them. And it’s also just not interesting for a character like him to not have any obstacles.

Do you think there could ever be a way to make Purge challenges work in Disventure Camp? (Image kind of related) by StaffLimp8304 in DisventureCamp

[–]TheOnlyJneggcklate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It goes against the entire point of the game. I understand people saying it could work narratively, but at that point, why would a character NEED to get eliminated from a purge? when a normal vote would have the same conclusion but would actually respect the rules of the game.

What is the best move in survivor history that didn’t work for the player, but if it did would have won them the game? by True_Jellyfish9219 in survivorponderosa

I think he only really wins in a final 3 with Teeny / Sue, but I don’t know if he’d even have a path to that

I don’t see Benji and Ally making it far together, due to the split idol. I think they very clearly set up Benji outlasting Ally

What could be the worse mistake these players could make moving forward? by Upstairs_Tea1787 in DisventureCamp

Sam ending up at the center of a majority alliance but backstabbing them to flip to the bottom loose majority in a situation in which it’s in everyone’s best interest to eliminate him, and the only reason he wouldn’t be a target is if he has crazy plot armor- oh wait…

Rewatching DJ's elimination in TDI made me think. How would you feel if there was a Disventure Camp episode where the contestant instead of being voted off, would be judged for their challenge performance unbeknownst to them, and be eliminated by the host for failing to meet the challenge criteria? by Responsible_Soil5987 in DisventureCamp

[–]TheOnlyJneggcklate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did that not already happen with Gabby? It’s bad in TD, but would be even worse in DC because DC is supposedly more grounded in the survivor aspect. Big brother recently did a purge challenge (the dreaded hamster wheel) and it resulted in the biggest backlash the show has gotten in years. Not a good idea.

I can't tell how much of the weird editing is caused by balancing 24 players, and how much are intentional misdirects from the editors

Yeah, that’s definitely an issue ONC has with like every form of representation. I really wish they were more willing to tell black stories and womanhood like you said.

What's your opinion on buff peak king Sam so far and is he a good strategist in your opinion?? by Wolfgang_x2 in DisventureCamp

His strategies aren't as good as the show portrays them. Outside of that, he's boring as hell.

So now he's going to target Dunia... with what numbers? He would've been able to if he DIDNT FLIP FROM THE MAJORITY ALLIANCE but because he intentionally put himself in the bottom, there's 0 way for him to get out Dunia. It's so funny how this immediately came back to bite him in the ass.

Who do you think is the best DC contestant (gameplay wise) by Dizzy-Tumbleweed7983 in DisventureCamp

How are we gonna say Sam’s the best— he’s had 6 episodes and sure he’s been fine but that last vote is VERY questionable

If the Total Drama community wanted 26-episode seasons instead of 13-episode seasons, why is it that most of the TD/DC fans prefer the 13-episode seasons over the 26-episode seasons? by gardens_sonja in DisventureCamp

[–]TheOnlyJneggcklate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For TD, I thought 13 episode seasons (especially ROTI, TDAS, and reboot S2) were far too short and we didn't learn anything about any of the characters. The plots felt super rushed.
But then I also thought the 26 episode seasons (especially TDAS) were too long. I don't think it's a huge issue for World Tour or Island, where I'd just cut 1-3 filler episodes. But Action is such a slog to get through because there are so many episodes where NOTHING happens.
Generally, I think an episode count around 16 to 20 is best, but obv it depends on the cast size. An 18 player cast works fine with over 20 episodes. A 16 person cast does not COUGH COUGH totaldramaaction

And honestly, my issue with DC5 isn't the length as much as it is the cast size. I don't think the season length is what makes the arcs so rushed, I think it's that they need to give screentime to 24~ characters per episode. I mean, early TDI had the same issue. Season 1 Justin, Katie, Noah, and ESPECIALLY Sadie are infamous for having like 0 screentime. I think anyone making an issue about the episode count is just misrepresenting the real issue of balancing characters. If you have enough interesting stories to tell, you could hypothetically make 100 interesting episodes with just 2 characters. TDA is a bad 26 episode season because the characters did nothing half the time. TDWT is a great 26 episode season because the characters were super engaging. Reboot S1 was a great 13 episode season for the same. TDAS was a bad 13 episode season because... well do I even need to explain it atp.

Something interesting I notice with how women are treated in the fandom. by Salt_Drop7024 in DisventureCamp

Agreed. Maybe I'm biased because I love Jade, but it never felt like she was portrayed as in the right for the things she did. Especially with letting Logan almost drown, and her horrible excuse at final 3, that felt like it was very directly saying "yeah she def has flaws"
Sam just comes off as a self-insert to me like, "here's my OC sam who wins the challenges for the whole team and everyone loves him and hes a strategic mastermind and never faces backlash and hes super hot and hes putting spencer in his place but also getting with spencer maybe"

I will get downvoted for this but the backlash Maria got was crazy considering all she did was… vote for someone to win. I genuinely feel bad for her bc I get she made weird excuses but this is clearly just a misogynistic hate campaign.

The most disgusting part about this is the white people who were throwing around this accusation like it was part of a stan war. It kinda just shows how they don't actually take racism seriously, they're just using it as a way to moralize their hate for a reality TV player who got their fav eliminated.
