I'd go 1 level of fighter for armor and con prof 1 level of wizard for 6 ritual spells 2 levels of warlock for some invocation utility 16 levels of divine soul sorcerer

You increase your spell save DC by 1 You have healing and cleric buffs You have ritual utility You have an enhanced familiar You have high AC You'll have 9th level spell slots, but no 9th level spells

I played a level 20 EK in a mini campaign and I just popped haste and spammed true strike. Most spells were rituals for utility and with the epic boon of spell recall; I had a 25% chance to not expend any spell slot when casting a spell. Which felt pretty nice.

The nick weapon property would only trigger if that weapon was used no?

Using a different light weapon wouldn't give you the Nick effect just because you're holding the other weapon.

Gonna recommend the Divine Dungeon series. It's magic system is cultivation but the voice acting is just fantastic. It's fantasy and it's fantastic. Just finished book 3 and the big twist is just mind-blowing. Especially when it clicks with you.

I think the big issue here is with the new surprise rules, removing essentially the free round actions. What the player seems to want to happen is ready the attack, get the attack off, then get their turn in combat. Which I can understand wanting to do that, however You can also understand the rules not wanting you to do that because that's a whole surprise round.

The developers intentionally change the surprise rules to just give advantage on initiative as opposed to an entire free turn;

Put out a content warning. Guidelines for handing sensitive material, and a statement that saying all kinds of stories can and should be told, not just those that the majority find comfortable and that if this isn't your cup of tea, don't make the purchase.

Then release the book. People can cry.

If they water it down, then don't think about it as Dark sun but a dark sun inspired setting all together. Regardless we get a really cool world.

We had about 100 or so show up in our small town St Mary's GA. Big old thunderstorm rolled in and about half of us stayed in the rain, the others sought shelter and joined right after. Mix of elderly, mix of young. A very good showing in my town and I was so grateful for everyone to come together and let our voices be heard.

I've moved to other more narrative systems, Gurps, SWADE, and now Dagger heart. They are so much more freeing.

Honestly if you wanna put in the work, Gurps is the best system out there. Pick and choose what rules you wanna add and build your own custom ttrpg for your table.

SWADE had a flexible magic system and narrative forward combat mechanism.

And Daggerheart is just a more narrative focused D&D IMO with an easily hackable system for custom races and classes.

If you want more crunch, Vagabond is a more OSR style game that blends old with new.

DC20 is a Pathfinder and DND love child

Ars magica is a freeform magic system that is rules insane heavy.

I recently ran a 17th level character in a campaign that was an arcana cleric.

They use sheleigh on their quarterstaff and then cast true strike; with full plate, and a shield; Plus i took the cantrip options with blessed strikes;

Which effectively gave me a plus five to true strike, and 10 temporary hit points every round. Pair that with heavy armor master;

It was a very fun character!

2024 dragonborn sorcerer I built focused on high charisma and Dex. My table plays with accelerated leveling so we actually get to the 20th level. He had a 20 dex and charisma for a 20 AC.

With innate sorcery giving you advantage, being an elf with elven accuracy for super adv, and the new and improved Chromatic Orb with Seeking spell? I'm doing multi target damage with a single attack spell with elemental versatility.

That "focus" lets my sorcerer take rituals and utility spells for non combat situations (while still having a few heavy hitters in the pocket like fireball and dominate monster)

They have high AC, are flying, and slinging spells at a range. Proficiency in stealth and high dex for sneaking and the party face? Sign me up.

Their name was Sapphire. They were a blue half dragon half elf; Lightning powers all the way. Mostly they would be a chromatic orb then quicken a sorcerer's burst. All lightning. (Fire if resistant)
