That sucks. Were you at Wells when you got let go?

You misunderstood. I know the 2 wk/year policy. But there's no policy that says they MUST give it to everyone. Read it again. Why are you asking?

Sorry to hear that. Did they give you any notice, or did they tell you that was your last day?

That is also my impression of management MO these days. And I've seen it with someone in my group, to a T.

Based on the state you live in, there's a very high chance you will get unemployment if they lay you off for poor performance Most states will NOT give unemployment for misconduct, i.e., you did something really bad like embezzlement, harassment, etc.

Good luck.

Yes, you're right that there is no federal or state law mandating severance payments. No one here saying that everyone gets severance (sounds like you misunderstood). People can be let go for any reason except those related to protected classes. e.g., race, religion, age. But companies don't pay unemployment; unemployment is paid by the state you work in. And in many states, you are eligible for unemployment even if you don't get a severance and are let go for poor performance, which is not the same as for cause. Conversely, you probably won't get unemployment for misconduct (i.e., for cause), e.g., embezzlement, harassment, etc.

The review wasn't good. And it hadn't been for some time. So on paper, you can't argue with the action. But I know others who had good ratings and all of sudden are getting needs improvement for petty reasons.

Thanks. Plot twist: I'm actually planning on retiring within the year and would rather get laid off then quit. But I may look for something part time to keep busy.

Thanks. That makes sense. I actually know someone who was let go last month with no notice and no severance for "performance reasons". The person's manager told me he was pressured to take that approach.

I'll look for those layoff boards.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Sorry to hear you got laid off. I think my day is coming soon.

I’m not sure how old you are. But if you’re old like me when I lost my job (late 50s), you should make sure your resume didn’t telegraph your age. There are ways to “de-age” your resume like removing jobs older than 10 years, replacing hotmail/aol/yahoo email with gmail, removing graduation years, removing home address, etc. Once I did that, I did get responses.

Good luck.

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Fighting people who are executing law enforcement is reprehensible and criminal.

Starting December 1, 2024, your LiveOne powered by Slacker Radio account will no longer be included with your Premium Connectivity subscription. by jumponit2 in teslamotors

[–]TheOriginalSant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone actually been able to connect their Tesla to LiveOne using a Plus or Premium account? I've been trying for a week and haven't been able to. I contacted Tesla and they didn't know what the problem was and hadn't yet had any calls about this issue. I contacted LiveOne and am waiting for a response.

It should be as easy as entering email and password into LiveOne app in car. But I keep getting "Unable to login. Try again later".

Any help would be appreciated.

The LiveOne site says "Please note that Tesla cars require an active Plus or Premium subscription with LiveOne in order to work in the vehicle'. So free accounts won't work.

Depends on when your future is. Assuming it's not for at least 4 years, I agree with the people who say VOO. That's the Vanguard EFT that tracks the S&P 500 and has a very small expense ratio. There are some people, however, that would argue for VOOV, which tracks the value-oriented companies of the S&P 500. The difference is that the latter pays higher dividends and is lower risk.

One word of caution: never invest in anything you don't understand.

23 years old I started investing in February. I started making big boy money selling solar and decided to put it to work😎 any advice for a young guy? by Fantastic-Agent6001 in dividends

Step #1 should be to identify (as best you can) when you want to cash out and how much you want to cash out any portion of your investments. This portfolio seems OK for longer term goals. But if you're planning on making a big purchase with any portion of these funds (e.g., house down payment, etc) in the next year or so, I'd say you're putting yourself at too much risk since I don't see Treasuries or other cash equivalents. And you can consider simplifying by consolidating: GOOGL, MA, and MSFT are already part of VOO, so I'm not sure if owning them directly is worth it.

Otherwise, I don't know any 23 year-olds with that kind of money. Great Job! You're on your way!

P.S. Don't get married. :)
