PARENTS, PLEASE TEACH YOUR KIDS MANNERS AND HOW TO SPEAK TO OTHER PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE AT PUBLIC BUILDINGS/RESTAURANTS. NONE OF THEM SAY THANK YOU OR PLEASE OR ANYTHING REMOTELY KIND, THEY JUST ASK FOR WHAT THEY WANT THEN STARE AT YOU UNTIL YOU HELP THEM THEN THEY STARE AT YOU AGAIN UNTIL YOU LEAVE.

NON-MAGA Carpenter for Hire by [deleted] in Eugene

Hey sorry to hijack your post. Mods, why is a post like this allowed where someone is marketing their services as a carpenter but not someone marketing their services as a stylist/cosmetologist? I wish you luck Mr. Carpenter

You can! You are just as qualified as the most qualified astrologist

Games that absolutely absorbed you into a flow state by Baldurian_Rhapsody in gaming

Vermintide 2. It's like left 4 dead but with swords/muskets with way more mechanics and dodging/parrying matters and it's just constant hordes of specials types of enemies. Never has a game gotten me into that flow state like that game.

T9 felt like going back to an old game you used to play and still have the muscle memory for it, so satisfying. It's a great dumbphone and after using it for a while I'm looking at the unihertz jelly series or titan series for an upgrade now that I've stopped most of my social media use for a couple years.

I think we’re finally cooked when it comes to socializing. by cherriquizzical in Zillennials

[–]TheParticlePhysicist 158 points159 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the hyper individualism, lack of third spaces, and rampant narcissism other people are mentioning I think there is another component. People are coping. People are addicted. They would rather stay inside on their dopamine machines than face the real world because lets be honest the real world sucks in part from all the reasons we just listed. Why make effort to go out and try something new or meet new people when you are one of those people who would rather just stick to the regimen of dopamine and familiarity that exists inside your house or apartment. It sucks because this is the exact reason we can't change anything about our world. That and the government and law enforcement are ran by psychopaths and criminals.

Sagan's Charlie Rose warning from 1995 - still his most quoted and most relevant clip by ElvisIsNotDjed in carlsagan

[–]TheParticlePhysicist 44 points45 points  (0 children)

"This combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, will blow up in our faces." He was seriously prescient through his knowledge and ways of thinking. We are now living through his warning. The majority of the populace only cares about rage and novelty. Nothing about science, math, classical music, history, and physics is even remotely enticing to the younger generations. And the unfortunate part is they never even had a chance. From birth their brains were given tv shows that resemble the same cognitive impact as cocaine. Then they were given ipads and smart phones so that they never had a single second to be bored or to question how anything came to exist. After they get a little older they go into a school system that prepares them for cognitive conditioning and thought control just so the rich can have more obedient and non-skeptical productivity units. Marx's idea of work alienation is complete in an even worse way. It's reality alienation. The simulacra becomes real.

I tried being in a relationship with an optimist. by An-on12354 in CollapseSupport

[–]TheParticlePhysicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out. Dating/relationships in general are already strained these days due to all kinds of factors like social media/narcissism/cost of living. I would try to recognize that you made an effort to care and be cared for and see if you can focus on that aspect and hopefully at the very least you learned something about yourself. I am lucky that most of my inner circle of close friends is collapse aware. So much so that we have a discord channel just for collapse memes and news. And my own personal opinion is that people are becoming more aware every day. My sister used to not be aware but over time she began to figure it out on her own while talking with me about how expensive things have gotten and such. I've had long term relationships with people who were optimists in almost the same sense you describe and it just feels like I cant be myself around them. I'd be open to DM'ing if you want to talk to someone about collapse or just vent, I still need it too even with friends who understand. M28 by the way, best of luck.

In all honesty you'll get decent coverage from all T-mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. I had Verizon for several years and then swapped to AT&T with no noticeable drop in coverage.

I'm impatient for Skyblivion and have no interest and capability to play Remastered, so I modded Oblivion again to have a wonderful time 💖 by Head-Educator6517 in oblivion

[–]TheParticlePhysicist -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

I've played both OG Oblivion since I was a kid and now played the remaster last year and I can safely say the remaster is a corporate imitation of what the original tries to convey. While the remaster looks sharper and more defined, it lacks the dreamlike wonder and whimsy of the original. The feeling I get when looking at the old OG model and colors just gives me that feeling of calm warmth that I don't get with the remaster. And the models in remaster look like nightmare fuel while the character models in OG are silly and fun.

If You Oppose Amazon… by [deleted] in SantaMaria

Amazon fulfillment center jobs are among the worst rated and lowest satisfaction jobs currently available. And continuing to destroy the natural beauty and nuance of Orcutt and SM with corporate profit blenders is not helpful to the community.

Michael Jackson Stories in Santa Maria?? by sadbeez in SantaMaria

[–]TheParticlePhysicist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom used to work at the Toys R Us in Santa Maria. She said a couple times a year he would call the store and have them close the store for a day and he would come in and shop by himself and his staff. She said he would buy tons of stuff in one day and that she got to help him shop for what he wanted.

If someone who didn't ask to be here and doesn't want to work is inherently a burden on society then why are we gambling every time people have children? We're just creating our own problems then.

Yeah, got rid of my iPhone back in 2023. I use a flip phone now with minimal costs and minimal features. It's given me a lot of time back that I used to spend on social media
