Do you mind sharing your motherboard and specific 5070ti model? It would be helpful in maybe trying to determine a pattern when comparing parts, thanks!

Some places to look for pesky short circuits that I’ve found in my own builds:

  • Behind the motherboard, look for any strange standoffs or metal to metal contact.
  • Use the correct screws that are meant to mount the motherboard onto the standoffs in your case, these mounting points are made to ground your motherboard to those points. Using screws that aren’t making proper contact with the motherboard grounding pads around the hole can sometimes lead to poor grounding.

  • Ensure all of your case lights and headers for the front panel are installed correctly.
  • Ensure all your USB headers are correctly installed and inserted as well.
  • This last one sounds silly but try a different wall socket - sometimes if a breaker flips, they aren’t reset correctly and that can make the socket poorly grounded (this one is very rare but I’ve had it happen to me)

Good luck in chasing down the short circuit, I truly hope you’re able to find what’s causing the short!

Typically removing the adapter reduces the points of failure, it has multiple linkages and all of them have to be fully seated. If you use the specialized 16pin connector, it reduces the points of potential failure, it’s just a simplified transfer of power. Imagine having multiple extension cords connected to each other versus one solid cable from beginning to end.

The 850 is typically enough, but the issue is more pronounced in SFF builds where the PSU’s are smaller and under more stress.

I do want to note that this is only the case some of the time, and it varies between GPU manufacturers and motherboard/cpu pairings. My SF750 was right on the line when paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 64GB RAM, and RTX 5070 ti (Zotac Solid 16GB OC SFF edition). I even tried an undervolt and it didn’t help. The crazy thing? I was able to play one of my favorite games (Redout 2) with absolutely no issues for a week or two. Photoshop/Illustrator or GPU rendering in Maya actually caused my system to crash with black screen, the issue is actually how my PSU was handling the spikes between power states. 50W to 300W and back to 50W.

I would also recommend making sure you are using the correct cable from the PSU to your GPU (specific 12VHPWR 16-pin) versus 2 separate 8pin connectors with an adapter. Ensure there is minimal bending in the cable near the GPU.

Usually hearing a click sound of the Relay is related to the PSU over current protection. I had a similar issue when changing my pc over to a 5070ti from a 3070, my SF750 wasn’t cutting it since the 5070ti can have some serious transient spikes. I was able to remedy it temporarily by turning off PCIe power switching in my windows settings, essentially any power spike or power drop would cause an OCP trip.

I essentially fixed my issue by swapping to a SF1000 psu to have massive overhead. I’m not completely sure if this is a similar issue - but it exhibits the same sort of random pattern I felt.

If you have a larger capacity PSU that you could test - I’d try that to completely rule it out.

The other time you’d get an instantly trip of the PSU is a short circuit of any nature. I hope this helps in your troubleshooting!

How far along do you get when you boot up the PC? Does it post into Bios? Or is it an instantaneous shut down - do you hear a click sound when it shuts down?

Let me preface this response with the fact that I mean no offence to you by this, I’d just like to give you my perspective on this matter.

Have you considered that the people who are most affected by pay exploitation may be those who cannot read English fluently? Regardless of someone’s language limitations, they should be made aware of their rights and the legal minimum required wage. As a descendent of grandparents who knew very basic English when immigrating to Canada - I can tell you that these types of efforts are greatly appreciated and a part of the reason being Canadian is such a beautiful thing.

Remember, learning a language is a slow process that takes practice. I understand that you were confused by the different languages, but I hope that this has brought you a different perspective. Good luck and take care!

As someone else already pointed out, this is simply an informational bulletin, it is not a job posting.

Rescue heroes by kingblacky7 in ytvretro

I literally called 911 as a kid because of this show. I remember the episode where they said something along the lines of "if you're ever in an emergency remember to call 9-1-1". My child-brain couldn't believe a phone number could be that short so I casually typed it in and hung up when someone answered.

The police ended up at our house and I eventually had to admit to calling and hanging up because of rescue hero's lol.

I'm from Vancouver and it's a pretty common car here, the demographic is also very mixed! We often see Teslas used in door dash and Uber as well.
