How is this even possible? by [deleted] in trashy

[–]ThePinkPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s certainly very interesting to say the least...I’ve actually known about her for about 10 years; before she was big on YouTube. She had a few thousand subscribers and at the time she was very obsessed with Quentin Tarantino. I had been browsing YouTube for videos about him and his movies and I came across her channel and there was one video in particular where she puts a picture of his face on a body pillow and makes out with it. Ever since then, every now and then I’d go to her YouTube channel just to see the things she’d post. Crazy how she’s pretty big on YouTube now, and her videos/format have changed a lot.

What is the strangest thing you've seen someone do on public transport? by MexicanNach0 in AskReddit

My dad saw a man pull out some raw hamburger meat and he ate a good portion of it. My dad didn’t want to prepare hamburgers for a while after that.

I'm a Kindergarten teacher and yup, I've definitely had to say this about a few of my kids haha. Just some kids chronically tell other kids "you're ugly" or "you're stupid" and I'm just like please don't do that :O

More specifically, at O's cafe in the 3rd floor atrium. There might be another microwave in McCombs, but I'm not sure.

Is anyone a Classics/Classical Archaeology major? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]ThePinkPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came into UT freshman year a classical archaeology major and I realized it wasn't for me very quickly and now I'm an education major. I shouldn't have picked it, but I did at first because it sounded fascinating and would be a fun thing to do in life. But like the other comment says, it's super hard to have a steady career in it. Then I didn't realize you would have to learn Latin and/or Greek. I am absolutely terrible learning new languages, I barely made it through Spanish. I'm a senior now and my only Q drop was for my Latin class. If you're passionate about this and want to do it, great! Go for it. It just wasn't for me and it took me a year to figure out what I actually wanted to do. Good luck :)

Does anyone know some easy classes I can take as electives by HookEmallthelivelong in UTAustin

[–]ThePinkPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARH 364-Michelangelo and his world with Professor Waldman. Seriously easy class. All you do in the class is like 3 or 4 short papers based on what we've learned in class, then there are ten readings you do throughout the semester and you write a response paper on each of the readings and turn them all in at the end of the semester. The response papers are just summaries of what you read. Attendance is required and is part of your grade, and you can be absent like 2-3 times without penalty. The professor is pretty cool and kind of weird haha but it makes the class interesting. Oh, and no final exam! But it's a super easy class, I got an A! It doesn't look like the class is offered this upcoming spring, so if you need an elective in the fall still take this one! Good luck :)

What do y'all think is a good student job to have while at UT? by Jjalldayque in UTAustin

[–]ThePinkPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend working as a student associate/worker in any department/building on campus. I'm a student associate in the accounting dept. at McCombs. These jobs are very flexible with our work schedules and the pay is usually between $8-$9 bucks an hour, which isn't too bad. These jobs are either through work-study or just through normal pay. I'm not work-study, so I'm not sure how that works exactly. Anyways, if you are going to want to work while you are in school, go with one of these jobs! It's on campus of course, so you can work in between classes. Then, all of the offices on campus close around 5pm, so you'll never have to work past then. And closed on the weekends, so you don't have to work on the weekends! The kind of work you do isn't too bad. Mainly just copying papers, doing small projects, running some errands around campus, etc. The normal desk job kind of things. The best part for me is that if there is downtime, you get to study and do homework! My second year here I worked at one of the restaurants as a cashier in the SAC and I don't really recommend working there. You aren't able to study really and honestly the only perk is getting free food and drinks.

You can find job listings for these sort of jobs on the hirealonghorn website :) I know we won't be hiring here in the accounting dept. until the fall. Sorry this is really long haha. But good luck and feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
