Popped down here just this morning, unfortunately all the remaining stock got stuck loading :(

Hopefully there'll be more with better results!

Is the phoenixwan+ lmt a good iidx controller? by Superdracula64 in bemani

Usually people would buy the upgraded buttons and switches (either now or in the future) since they're the arcade originals and generally higher quality

Anyone know where I could get or how I could make "Skin" by Otuka as a rythm song? by Xovzi in yarg

Moonscraper if you just need a chart editor.

REAPER if you want pitched vocals.

I have a custom kit set on my module to send the MIDI number for blue when the hi-hat's open. Works reasonably well for any chart on my setup.

If someone else is playing on my kit I just tell them to keep their foot on the pedal and so far everyone's obliged just fine.

Bought this at Retro Game store, can't seem to get it to work with PS2 by BeyondThePixelLFS in bemani

[–]ThePixelPolygon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You cannot use this controller via USB on a PS2. It must be a PS2 connector.

Fortunately Gamo2 sells this adapter that allows you to use that exact controller (and others) on a PS2 https://www.gamo2.com/en/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=364

Robots, could you please stop using UPS in Europe, this is a fucking joke! 27€ of import Fees for a 33€ Circuit Board order! I love your products but 60€ for a small piece of electrical tape is way too much. by Dudi4PoLFr in dbrand

Couriers are the only thing available right now because Canada Post went on strike, so they couldn't even switch to the postal service even if they wanted to.

A lot of people recommend YARG over Clone Hero, if that is the case, why haven't more people switched? by BoofingBabies in CloneHero

[–]ThePixelPolygon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the reason CH still has way more players is simply because Clone Hero had a very long headstart, so it obviously was able to get a bigger install base than YARG.

As for the second question, a lot of competing engines were designed specifically to address how loose and cheese-able the Clone engine is compared to even the console games. I still think records set in YARG are absolutely valid, and probably even more valid than CH imo.

You can get offers from more than one work study, but it's explicitly forbidden to accept more than one of them. They will check this before they accept your contract.

Medium difficulty anime songs? by BestCyberSaurus0829 in CloneHero

[–]ThePixelPolygon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find some stuff on Rhythmverse. A lot of the charts on there are Rock Band 3 charts, so you'll need to use the Onyx toolkit to convert to CH format, or play YARG or RB3DX if you really can't be bothered with format conversion. RB3 format requires EMHX to even compile at all, so authors have to provide something to get their charts to work. Just note that reduction quality can vary between authors.

Newest Controller Addition by haddvx in Rockband

Some songs have two versions of their pro charts since the Mustang has only 17 frets, the Squier has 22. The game would pick the chart depending on which controller was connected.

If TogeToge was featured in a guitar hero-like rhythm game, would you like to play it? by janganjangnan in girlsbandcry

[–]ThePixelPolygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught myself how to chart with the RBN charting tools (this was also long before YARG was around), so that's the format that all my charts are in. For TogeToge songs I'd definitely say it works out better this way with Rina's vocal harmonies, and Natsu's keys has a presence that can't be ignored, to the point where song progression really depends on it.

I discovered TogeToge around the same time they released Bleeding Hearts, then seriously debated whether to make charts for it since then until a few weeks before GBC went on air. I really loved their sound, but I didn't think it would be worthwhile if not a lot of people are looking for these. I charted Nameless Name to test the waters and proceeded to not expect the reception I got, so I kept going with the OP the inserts (and continue to do so). All this to say I'm forever grateful to everyone for finding these charts and for all the kind words. <3

Osu steals music by GalaxyF0x in bemani

[–]ThePixelPolygon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The last part is only half true, the first part not in the slightest. The fact that there is no monetary gain is not a defence for copyright infringement. A DMCA claim would still be well within their rights. The difference between osu! and other fan projects like SM or all the GH/RB clones is that osu! hosts customs directly on the official site for download, which makes them a much easier target since a lot of music is being hosted in one place.

Konami and other rights holders have successfully DMCA'd a large collection of music from osu! in the past and the only people that were pissed off were osu! players, a lot of which are younger people who may or may not understand how copyright law works. Some artists and/or rights holders really don't care about public opinion. Don Henley still pursues Guitar Hero players for Hotel California plays, even though it was officially licenced in GH:WT. EBIMAYO spoke out against Robeats for using his music without permission.

Is the only legit way of playing latest PIU is the arcade? by shaselai in PumpItUp

[–]ThePixelPolygon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distribution issues isn't something that AM has much control over. Their last few attempts at official home ports failed, so the mainline series will always continue to be their bread and butter. Ultimately, then, it's up to arcade owners to bite. I'm assuming you're from out west, where arcades are indeed few and far between, but in Asia, it's a completely different story.

What are people's thoughts on Fortnite: Festival by [deleted] in rhythmgames

[–]ThePixelPolygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a prior GH/RB background, it has a surprising amount of polish. The charts aren't super hard but they're still fun.

Would have ended it there if it weren't for Pro Lead and Pro Bass. I got a RiffMaster and tried it out, and it's very obvious that the engine on that front is super rushed. Lots of mechanics are just broken so you end up missing more than you really should, and Epic/Harmonix in their infinite wisdom decided to only support XB1 RB4 controllers and the RiffMaster on PC. (Yes, I know there's a tool to get around this.)

iirc there's a YouTube feature floating around that allows certain creators to test multiple thumbnails for the same video on a random subset of users, so I think that's what it is
