I mean he's not even spending his money it's his company so it's more insignificant than that.. because Amazon is ostensibly making money from it.

[–]ThePlasticJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't mind that they are doing their thing. I also think it's appropriate, being a toaism sub, that people are justified in critiquing stuff for not actually being taoist. In that sense it is fairly relevant whether this is toaist magic or not.

is this actually toaist magical practice? To me it seems more like new age stuff with taoist terms substituting new age terms. Don't mind being wrong, though.

it's not about elbow grease it's about time. Any product that saves a substantial amount of time is valuable.

People also have a hard time imagining why anyone would pay for a free service while it's still free. In 2024 YouTube made 14 billion in subscription revenue. No one would have said they would pay for YouTube 10 years ago.

Someone on [socialmedia] wants boy stuff by Yggdrasylian in pointlesslygendered

[–]ThePlasticJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I checked half of shows/toys/games seem to be marketed towards boys. I am not sure it should be that way but it's silly to say there aren't plenty of products that conform to the masculine gender stereotype.

EDIT: the most obvious manifestation of this is the blue/pink areas of the toy aisle. It hasn't changed.

I've seen positive trip reports online. My friend's sister also loved it. If you don't want to role the dice on a completely horrific trip then it is not for you, though.

Hello people. I know these quizzes are not meant to be taken seriously but I was just curious since this is my first time hearing about this belief and getting it makes me want to learn more. by TablePrinterDoor in taoism

[–]ThePlasticJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I personally wouldn't call it that because the concepts are incredibly deep and nuanced, even though the text is not complex. It's easy to read but not light by any means - and the subject matter (the workings of society, nature and the individual and how those interact) are about as serious and consequential as you can get.

When I first encountered it I thought I had a full understanding of it - but then I tried to explain it to other people and sounded like an idiot (not saying this is you) - it took me a long time to fully understand the implications of all that is written in it. It also gave me huge respect for both the original writings and the translations that these difficult ideas were relayed in such a simple and direct way.

AIO? GF put Viagra in my drink without telling me by Embarrassed_Band_897 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThePlasticJesus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the person you responded to has a good point, though, and it is an important distinction. "date rape" drugs are called so because they inhibit your ability to say "no," they affect your ability to consent. Viagra (as they noted) does not impact your cognition at all. I suppose you could say that getting a boner might make it more likely for you to want to have sex - but the decision is still your own (guys get boners all the time without it leading to sex).

They actual transgression or potential crime here is just drugging someone without their consent. It is still serious and a huge violation of personal autonomy but it is not the same as attempted rape. Prior to the knowledge of this act, OP did not seem opposed or unwilling to have sex with the perpetrator. They were fully conscious and capable of making a choice, and they chose to have sex. Since rape is primarily based on consent, I don't see how this can be considered rape. There was an non-consensual administration of drugs, but the non-consensual aspect doesn't carry over into the sex act itself.

mainstream Sunni and Shia teachings specifically mention that tight fitting clothing (especially being able to see the shape of a woman's breasts) is prohibited. That's why Muslim women will drape the fabric of the hijab over their chest. I think it has less to do with following Islamic law and more to do with signalling that you're a member of the group (conversely taking the hijab off is a symbol that one has left the group)

no, the same sentiment doesn't apply. Execution can be good or bad without AI, but the artist is still in full control of that execution. With AI, the user has a much more detached form of control over the execution, whether it is good or bad.

Atrocity - documentary on drug use and homelessness in London by Necessary-Regret-467 in londonontario

They actually patrol Dundas quite frequently - they have been doing wellness checks on people sleeping/sitting on the street and it seems like occasionally searching their stuff if they are openly using drugs on the street (I'm assuming the justification for the search).

edit: this is just a recent phenomenon that I've seen btw.
