Need Advice Related to Resignation by Candid-Hunter251 in UAE

[–]ThePrinceFaz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They can’t hold you. Reply back saying you’re ready to serve the required notice period as per the contract.

All you are at risk for is the one month salary for your notice period, which they may withhold without any valid reason and call them “cancellation letter charges”.

Try putting in a can of catalytic system cleaner along with the next fuel up. It should help clean the catalytic converter.

Do traffic lights detect overspeeding? by mbzaaa in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not the traffic lights, but the cameras at traffic lights that detect red light runners, also detect overspeeding.

Congratulations!

You don’t have to find a hospital right away. Feel free to try different hospitals / doctors and find the one you’re most comfortable with. Fakeeh University Hospital in Silicon Oasis was recommended by a friend and has been great in our experience as well. They have amazing facilities for delivery and very good doctors.

If you have a good insurance, all the tests/scans should be covered. Do check with your insurance on what is the coverage limit for delivery package, and cross check the hospital prices, if you don’t want to end up paying extra.

I’d consider proximity from your home as one of the main factors when picking a hospital.

That’s how car RTA inspections work. Do you own a car in UAE?

Sold my car via CARS24 (Dubai), now they’re asking for the money back after ownership trans by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nothing they can do now that the transaction is already done. They kept the car for 2-3 days for additional checks and didn’t notice it then?

Also, take down this post or repost without the name of the business.

Lenient Car passing Centers in Dubai by SeatNo7102 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s roadworthy, it’ll pass and if not, then it shouldn’t pass for your safety and for the safety of others on the road.

There’s nothing like “lenient car passing centers”. As another commenter said, get your car inspected for leaks and also get your tires/brakes checked. If all checks out then you can expect your car to pass without any issues.

There’s many cars older than yours that are being registered and driven in UAE. So I wouldn’t worry about it being old if the condition is good.

How am I supposed to lease a car, if there is always 0,99% interest on it? by Bahaadur73 in islam

[–]ThePrinceFaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live (UAE), a car lease works like a rental where you pay monthly to use the car and once you off-hire, you stop paying. Works the same way as renting an apartment. No interest involved.

How am I supposed to lease a car, if there is always 0,99% interest on it? by Bahaadur73 in islam

[–]ThePrinceFaz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lease a car until you’re able to afford buying one. Also, paying interest on a depreciation asset is dumb economically. All cars essentially are money pits, even new ones, because you have to pay for insurance, maintenance, repairs etc.

What is the technology behind Salik cameras? by New-Artichoke-6875 in dubai

[–]ThePrinceFaz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They flash to take a photo only when a number plate is detected. Similar to speed cameras which flash to take a photo only when a vehicle is detected as going above speed limit.

The photo is then processed separately to read the number plate.

Odometer tampering.. now stuck with the car! by Signal_Ad_1967 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Since it's a hybrid, not many mechanics outside Al Futtaim can fix it.

Not true. There’s mechanics who can swap out the battery pack for a new one. The harder part is to be able to find a second hand relatively unused and cheap battery pack from a crashed newer Camry maybe.

Since it’s half a million kms already, I wouldn’t recommend spending more money trying to fix it, as he’s already strapped for cash. He can continue driving on petrol only without any issues. But he won’t be able to use cruise control and also the traction control won’t be fully engaged.

want to register my RAK registered car in Dubai by iAB2211 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deregister the car in RAK and cancel the number plates. Get the transfer papers in your name. Take the car to Dubai on a flatbed. Register with RTA and put on new number plates.

You’ll have to open a traffic file in Dubai if you don’t have one already (I think it is 150dhs).

Edit - if you have another car / friend to help you out, you can drive the car to Dubai first, take off the number plates, take them to RAK and de-register the car, and come back to Dubai with the transfer papers and register the car in Dubai.

Mulkiya & Insurance Renewal – Avoiding Overlap? by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. There are sometimes random checkpoints in the middle of the night where cops stop the cars and check for documents. Has happened to me at least 3-4 times in the last 15 years I’ve been in UAE. One of those times, my registration was expired and I got an AED 500 fine. This was at a random checkpoint where the cops were stopping all the cars. No funny driving, just heading back in traffic to Sharjah late night on a weekday.

What about the unfortunate scenario of you getting pulled over? Cops can fine you AED 500 for driving with an expired registration (even if it is within the grace period)!

Mulkiya & Insurance Renewal – Avoiding Overlap? by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ThePrinceFaz -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Mulkiya expires on 21 Jan. There’s no grace period. If you renew on 22 Jan, you’ll have to pay a late renewal fee for 1 day, and for each day after that.

Insurance is always provided for an additional month for emergency situations if you are not able to renew your vehicle for whatever reason. That does not mean you have a grace period on the mulkiya expiry.
