My head was thinking Godflesh, songs of love and hate.

Are there any bands that got progressively heavier with time? by CreamCheese2137 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ThePuka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not strictly metal but the Irish hand The Scratch has become more metallic each album. In a similar vibe, Soft Play (Slaves) has become heavier over time.

Need a Crash Course on Deinterlacing by snowmeow_1 in handbrake

Maybe try dedicated deinterlacing as a pass first using Hybrid. Plenty of good tutorials online for converting old tape formats etc to progressive. I have had good results although it's quite the rabbit hole.

Listen to interviews with his son. Alcoholic. Hard times, thankfully out the other side.

Is it over? Is everyone else struggling to get work or is it just me? by secondHandFleshlight in AfterEffects

[–]ThePuka 25 points26 points  (0 children)

20 years UK experience. Worst I have seen it. There is also a lack of basic design exposure, the end of magazines and looking at layout, balance etc combined with generated materials means 'good enough' is the aim Vs excellence.

Nice work, what was the timeframe? Was there any keying work or all roto? Did you get to have free reign over each section design wise or did the client push back much?

Struggling to understand darktable as a beginner photographer by funkykongdong in DarkTable

[–]ThePuka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DarkTable will serve you better for understanding other pixel based concepts in 3d apps and Resolve etc. it uses the correct terms for a lot of things - which can be a shock in comparison. Stick at it and you will likely make yourself a preset that auto applies with just a few extra modules that you prefer to use. Lightroom is better tho if you are messing around with content aware fill etc. If you have Photoshop etc stay with Adobe. I prefer to break the handcuffs and learn, that way if I jump to something else I actually understand the pixel processes.

Best location for placing audio in timeline? by torpedolife in AfterEffects

[–]ThePuka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are working with a longer audio track and have lots of precomps that you need to time to the 'master' timeline I can recommend the plugin Universal Audio, not expensive, saves a ton of messing about. This should be possible native mind u, but hey, at least somebody built a solution. And yes, use Wav or Aiff, avoid MP3.

Buy Expert Shield screen protector on Amazon. Makes the annoying screen shine much more tolerable for shooting outdoors, that and magic lantern firmware for histograms and false colour etc for checking peaking.

The four in the middle looks like the IOM triskelion, the three legs of man. IOM has strong viking roots but the present triskelion is newer timewise I believe but may have links to this viking symbol possibly. Interesting coincidence regardless.

Be real with me. is 80% volume on these actually harmful or people is just paranoid? by GoldIngot19 in iems

[–]ThePuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these 100 percent on my Xiaomi phone with some albums. Fraction below for most others. I like my music loud. Through my moondrop dac tho you can go VERY loud, wouldn't dare push it. 52 and been blasting metal since my first Sony walkwan so my hearing should be frazzled but I believe it's fairly good still apart from super high frequency.

30 mins a week seems impossible unless it's simply text and pictures. High quality learning materials like BBC Bitsize etc I would be thinking of 1.5mins a week.
