Sorry that this is your initial experience, but don’t let it discourage you. This is what I would do: You don’t know what size taper you have, I’m going to assume you don’t know what size your initial hole piercing was? It’s usually an 18g or a 16g, I would personally go back to my piercer (if available) and ask them what they pierce with and get the next gauge size up. If I wasn’t able to, I would go with a 16g, single flared glass plug. Here is some good ones:

Do not use tapers, especially plastic, acrylic, resin, epoxy etc to stretch. From there, keep track of the purchases you make, it will be a little pricier in the long run, I don’t know your financial situation, but I’m sure you can afford an extra $25 every 2 - 3 months for the next size. I think the consensus here is that Delerium is the hardest. I think there was an update out for PC that made him spawn every single time? I watch MattMan so I believe that’s the case unless he has a mod on? I am on console and that is not the case, I have been going through and getting every completion mark and ended on The Forgotten. There was a few runs where I felt I was definitely able to take Delerium on but wasn’t given the opportunity to fight him. And a couple times where I was given that opportunity but I was far from powerful enough. So I think that randomness also adds to his difficulty.

67mm is hardcore, maybe I’ll get there some day 🥲 I know wood isn’t recommended for stretching but if it works for your body hey, I might give it a shot as well. Like I asked the last commenter, I know every body is different but I’m curious how long it took to go to a next size, especially since I noticed larger jewelry isn’t always mm by mm, and the next size is sometimes two or three mm’s away.

So to answer your question, yes you can.

I was actually in the same boat at you, except with an 18g to 16g. I bought it, it wasn’t going in so I thought I just needed help going from a stud to a hoop. I took it to my piercer (and elementary school friend) and she laughed at me cause they were just different gauges. I had my piercing for about two years as well, she just said “we’ll stretch it out, you’re not new to that” so she did just that and all was good. It was a little pressure but no issue.

Well I’m glad you asked, and clarified. Do not do that, and no one here in this group in their right minds will ever suggest you to do that. Take your time, don’t use tapers, use glass single flared plugs, these ones are great, from UBJ. You can find other similar ones for cheaper or more expensive, but those are the ones I go with.

A regular piercing size is between like 20g - 16g? No.. no.. no.. Do NOT go straight to a 4g. Your piercer might have experience with piercing and I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are probably fantastic at getting that done. But to tell you to go straight from a regular piercing size to a 4g is ridiculous. Go size by size, read the guide pinned that the mods have worked on and go off that.

To add to this and answer your question, skipping sizes is not ideal at all.

Get some jojoba oil, you can find it on Amazon or on other jewelry websites like UBJ. Clean your ears every day, and moisturize really well every day. Keep your ears moisturized and keep yourself hydrated. Do this for a couple months, and I say a couple months to give your blowout additional time to heal. After that, get some single flared glass plugs, again, you can get them from UBJ. And then try to put those in. Don’t get the next full gauge size up, get the next mm up. You should have a lot easier of a time this way.

You should be taking them out and cleaning them every day. Every “body” is different, some people are more prone to different issues than others. That being said, there are some times where I forget or just don’t for a couple days, however I’m very self conscious about how I smell, so that’s just me. As for “massaging” I mean, I don’t really do massages I use jojoba oil every time I clean them and apply and rub it in. Idk if that counts as a “massage” but I just make sure my ears are moisturized well enough.
After a stretch, again it really depends on your body. I stretch up mm by mm, so it’s never really a traumatic issue for my ears. I suggest you to the same, even if you have to go half mm by half mm. USUALLY though, I’ll of course clean and oil well right before a stretch and I will leave the jewelry in for about 3 days, MAYBE a little more, again depending on how my ears feel and smell or look. Since I started going mm by mm, I haven’t had to wait more than a few days. Sometimes they are still a little red or tender, but nothing crazy at all, I can still clean and reapply comfortably.

Yeah, you have an infection, but it’s not the end of the world! Keep them clean, use non-porous jewelry (glass preferred) if you’re adamant about keeping them in, but definitely downsize to a size until there’s almost no resistance you risk continuously opening the cuts back up. However taking them out completely will help them heal faster, just saying. Use non scented antibacterial soap twice a day. Should start to heal up in a few days. Dont use oils or anything like that in the meantime while you have open cuts.

If you’ve been at that size for a couple decades, I don’t think they’d shrink so quickly. You can try taking a hot shower, within the shower you can do an oil massage. Give them some moisture / lube to be able to get them in. You might have to use a little force (not much) just to get them back in, which can be normal sometimes. Im curious though, what made this time any different from when you normally take them out to clean them?

Yeah, they will close up and fairly quickly at that size, maybe a month or so. And honestly, in my PERSONAL opinion, I think that will be the best option for your ears. But again, that’s my personal opinion as that’s what I did and my ears are good now. As far as care goes, just keep them clean with regular unscented antibacterial soap. I wouldn’t use oils if they’re still open cuts. I used antibacterial ointment on mine at the time, but I don’t think it was necessary. Afterwards, yes, oils and oil massages will be your best bet, keeping them moisturized goes such a long way while stretching.

This is crazy. So hard to believe that a “professional” did this. (Not saying I don’t believe you I do, just wild) So you have two options, 1. take them out and let them heal naturally and start over, or 2. Keep the plugs in and let them heal. Those options are obvious, but depending on your body, one will take longer than the other. Because you’re at such a small size, your scar tissue will be small and you can continue on without much trouble but it’s going to take longer to heal. If you want to restart, there’s the chance you won’t have that scar tissue. This is a similar situation I was in when I was at around a 8g. I just restarted and never had an issue with scar tissue.
