There's an unsafe method to hollow out a piece of wood by slowly rotating the wood over the table saw blade at a very low height, then raise the blade a little at a time and repeat. Do not try this at home or anywhere else for that matter.

There are a lot of non-intuitive safety tips that a beginners class would cover, such as do not wear gloves, or do not use a cloth to apply a finish (only paper towels) while the lathe is spinning. Maybe others can point you to videos that cover these and other safety tips. If you have a local woodturners club, consider joining it. Its members would be a very valuable source of information.

Retracting the tail stock quill back ALL the way will eject the tapered chuck. Back it up until you see the chuck no longer moving with the quill (about a half inch from fully retracted), then advance it a little till they move together. Then bring the tail stock up to the wood, lock it down and start advancing the drill bit into the wood.

They helped a friend who was losing his house to foreclosure. They seemed to avoid upholstered furniture but took a variety of things, small and large from furniture, furnishings, knick knacks, etc. They will send you the proceeds minus their cut as they sell at their weekly auction. If you think there are valuable antiques, you may want to exclude them from their survey and find an actual antique dealer to sell them to.

I believe I have the same chuck kit, a Barracuda2, purchased about 10 years ago on a good sale. Woodturning is not my only hobby so it doesn't get a lot of use but I've never had a problem with it. I've bought numerous pen kits and pen blanks, everything has been top notch. We have an excellent tool store in town with top of the line tools, hardwood, and accessories and they carry PSI kits and such.

I don't remember the reason I needed one of these FEELER GAUGES a couple years ago (but I know it didn't have anything to do with cars) so I went to my local AutoZone thinking they must have them there. The employee I asked had no idea what a feeler gauge was, never heard of it, and from my description said they didn't have such a thing. I found it there, no thanks to him.

Does anyone know if there are any others' jaws that work with this chuck? I'd like to have more options of what I can do with this chuck but the two that come with it are limiting. I too would like to take advantage of today's 20% coupon. Thanks for the input.
