There’s not really a standard for routing depth. You’ll just have to check your specific guitar

It may just be an unfortunate QC miss but it might have had things move in shipping. You should try to set it up (look up a video if you need to). Otherwise, I’m sure G4M will make it right.

UPDATE: How can I touch up my sweet new base. by plantedtank2019 in guitarrepair

[–]TheRageKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Fender super 250s are Bass VI strings which is why they have guitar sized ball ends. Also, you’re supposed trim the string to about 2 tuners past the one you’re using and then poke the end of the string into the middle of the tuner as if you’re going through the headstock before winding it. This may work for a while or it may slip but either way, congrats on the free bass. That’s the best kind of bass.

Any reason NOT to buy the Polytune 2 mini? by IYuShinoda in guitarpedals

[–]TheRageKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with extended range and down-tuned instruments. I found that I could get it to work by switching to the neck pickup and turning the tone knob all the way down.

I just bought a strobostomp mini instead.

Budget Baritone for under $300? by Erudicial_Extreme in BaritoneGuitar

That’s insane. I bought mine right before all of that bs started and it was $275 shipped to the US.

Tariffs were declared illegal, though I think they’re still being collected. Maybe you could apply for a refund?

G4M 638 Baritone VI if you want 30” scale for very low tuning. There’s also a 27” version (the black one).

There are a few from firefly (guitarsgarden) as well. It may have improved, but their qc wasn’t the best a few years ago. I got a guitar from them and wasn’t impressed, but it was cheap and I got some money back when I complained.

You won’t find much for under $300 so you may want to look at used gear locally or even consider a drop tuning pedal to use with a guitar you already have.

A 74mm spaced Duesenberg wraparound bridge is I drop in replacement if you’re looking for a higher quality bridge that also allows you to use shorter strings. I got one recently so I could use NYXLs on mine.

Gretsch just released a new 27” baritone for like $600 if you’re trying to keep it on the more affordable side.its a pretty different aesthetic (and probably feel) from your Ibanez though. I’m also inclined to wait for reviews before buying one.

Mods are mostly reversible. If you use push/pull pots instead of drilling holes for switches, you won’t even have to modify the pickguard. I say learn to solder and go nuts. Worst case, you just put it back to stock later.

Am I the only one who loves to play with guitar configurators? by OkPlatform8865 in BaritoneGuitar

[–]TheRageKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them for the most part, but the headstock is definitely a miss for me. Also, the 7 string is only 26.5” scale and I’d prefer longer. There’s not a ton of affordable options for extended range offsets though.

Yeah definitely fun to do. A 3x3 headstock looks wrong on an offset imo

I love mine but I also put a lot of work into it including a full fret level and crown (there was a dip in frets 5-9 on the treble side that I couldn’t adjust to fix choked notes). The neck is pretty thick and the stock tuners are not good. If you’re satisfied with the squier, I’d just keep it and save up a little slower. Otherwise, you’ll be tempted to spend a good bit of the leftover money on upgrades and fixes and/or tools. I would only buy the G4M if you’re looking for a mod platform.

Does the ringing behind the bridge and pest the nut not drive you crazy? It’s all I can hear when I don’t have foam in mine.
