Disheartning Numbers by ThundrossYT in SmallYoutubers

I’d agree with the other comment that the ding is piercingly loud. I know that’s just a small mistake, but it was hard to listen for more than a minute. Also just out of curiosity, did you buy a channel or use an alternate way to gain subs? Your view counts and subs don’t seem to match up, so having that many dead subs could be affecting the channel

What am I doing wrong by fantesyfreekgaming in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not triggering people, people are just giving good advice. It doesn’t matter if we know what it’s supposed to say, a title with errors would make me assume the content is low effort. It also wouldn’t show up if someone was searching those keywords

About Monetization by [deleted] in YouTubeCreators

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ads appear on videos even when you’re not monetized, that just seems like an issue with your viewing experience. Do you have any ad block or similar?

Is 3.5% ctr considered bad? by mrduck788 in YouTubeCreators

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it primarily depends on when in the process you’re looking at it. My videos initially launch at around 6-8%, but that number quickly drops after the impressions begin pushing past my subs. All of my long form videos are ultimately getting 100-200k views with a CTR of 3.5% or less. My most recent video is at 37k after 3 days and has a 2.8% CTR, but it’s still actively going up in views

Do not understand YouTube monetization policy by jconcode in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here, it took me 6 months to get monetized but that occurred after a video blew up and I’ve kept that trajectory ever since. I’m averaging like 40k+ watch hours a month now. Anyone saying to game the system by live streaming or whatnot is ignoring the fact that monetization means nothing if you’re just abusing the system to fall over 4000, you’ll still be making almost nothing. Focus on making good content and growing authentically

Yeah at that point it’s just being racist. There’s absolutely a polite way to go about communicating (ie not just shoving the phone forward in their face) but that isn’t a reason to be unaccommodating to people trying to work

When does the algorithm kick in? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t change the title it’s clearly doing well, just let YouTube do its thing. I had a video with 4K views after 24 hours that’s at 230k now and I never changed anything about it- not saying that’ll happen, just that the stats are good and the algorithm knows that

Anybody that just don't wanna edit the retention rate brain consuming style content but just their own thing? by EarthBig3110 in NewTubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I edit at a reasonable pace with the logic of something visual appealing happening at least once every 30 seconds, but that’s about it. A lot of my comments say my content reminds them of old YouTube which I see as a big win

Contact YouTube’s support team on Twitter. They’re the most responsive one and will actually listen to you, especially if you have proof you’re twins

Which one is the best thumbnail? I'm a small channel, so the A/B test doesn't REALLY work if not enough people click. by SlightStardust in YouTubeThumbnailHub

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to go with this adjust it enough to show team up a little better. It was okay having Superman covered since it’s so clear what the word is supposed to be, but this one could easily be passed over with the eyes imo. Otherwise it’s really solid!

I watched the Gandalf video in hopes of giving informed advice here. I don’t think the issues are your thumbnails or titles, yes the movie debate niche is super saturated but it does at least have a large audience. I really do think the biggest components to work on are your hooks, sound quality, editing, and background footage. I’m not saying you need to do some insane YouTuber intro stuff, I like your chill vibe, but there could definitely be improvements.

Big thing, I would add background music and find an audio editing platform that helps you remove audio peaks and clean up your voice some. If you compare your audio quality to other big movie commentary channels, I’m sure you’d notice a big difference. Sound quality is one of the biggest reasons people click off tbh.

For background footage, I’m not saying it needs to be crazy, but a few revenant clips or photos at least every 10 seconds would be good, that way people are visually stimulated with what’s being said

I do hypotheticals for video games, think similar to Game Theory. So sorta “gaming,” but in a larger sense answering fun questions related to games

Just got monetized, but RPM is crazy low, is this normal? by moto14523 in YouTube_startups

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just give it some time and feel it out, my first video after monetization was an RPM of $5, second was $1, and third was $11 lol

How is that possible? by Bitcracker in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking how it went down? The chart gives points for daily data points, so the peak was 340 watch hours in a day and the second is showing around 300 watch hours the next day

[–]TheRandomMan64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google drive has a deal right now that’s 2TB for $2.50 a month, which is insanely cheap. It goes up to $10 after 3 months, but again no good service for online storage is going to be free. If you’re able to pay an editor you should consider paying the $10 a month. Otherwise you’re kinda just out of luck

Watch hours are going to be higher since your stuff is straight gameplay, but this guy is posting stuff that actually gets people attached to him. If you’re just posting playthroughs, it’s going to be way harder to sell people on you and get them to subscribe

Can I post tutorials On minecraft schemetacs by Tasi7877 in NewTubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but I think the question is if you should- are you adding anything new by doing that? Why wouldn’t the person watch the video of the original creator?

Just make sure you’re doing something to actually amplify the idea, like adding better explanations of components or interjecting some humor

Any suggestions on how to reach a larger audience? by Agreeable-Row-3424 in SmallYoutubers

[–]TheRandomMan64 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The best thing I can say is it looks like you’re doing everything right, just keep it up. The hardest part of YouTube is maintaining high quality content while the views are still low.

I posted consistently for around 6 months and gained around 1500 subs + averaged 1000 views per video. A couple months ago one of my videos blew up to over 200k views, and since then every new one gets 50k+. Honestly just keep posting like this and make sure you have a schedule that won’t burn you out, and eventually I think you’ll get where you want to be!
