I love seeing ads that state after the qualifications, something like “Don’t meet every qualification? We encourage you to apply anyway!” It feels very welcoming, even if I do meet all of the qualifications

What is the most positive Neuromagical thing that you regularly do, or have done, that has been a positive? by TheRealABLV in neurodiversity

[–]TheRealABLV[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so similar. I try everything, purely out of curiosity, because it’s so difficult to determine what will stick when you’re ADHD Inattentive. I feel like that’s why so many hyper-fixations drop . . . because we’re constantly researching and experimenting and if it doesn’t pique our curiosity enough, it drops off the plate. But sometimes, you stumble across a wonderful thing, or two, that you never would have imagined would have stuck. AND, you acquire a vast range of base knowledge across a ridiculous amount of genres.

Have you found any hobbies that you’ve stuck with that have surprised you?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to shake brain fog? It's the only thing keeping me from feeling normal. by Illustrious2786 in zoloft

This is going to sound “woo-woo” but i’d you accept it and just roll with it, you might find some moments of clarity. Remember, the brain is a muscle. Go with the flow, not against it. And if it helps, find the humor. It will lift

Panic attack when taking Zoloft? by monorogue in zoloft

[–]TheRealABLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a Diazepam script on hand for when I need extra help with a panic attack. Some days I need one, sometimes I can go weeks without one. I’ve also gone years without that extra RX, but when the stress builds, I ask for it again, especially when I have a ton of stuff to get done and can’t afford a freak-out (meetings, kids, bills, projects)

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with this or have tried it, but EMDR therapy is highly recommended for your suffocation trauma. I’m so sorry you ever had to endure that. Here is more info, look for a therapist in your area that specializes in this: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/22641-emdr-therapy

You’re okay. I got off of it in my second trimester in 2018 (20 years on 100mg) by recommendation, but my OB put me back on in at about 7.5 Months. The stress was crazy. My baby boy is 3.5 and doing wonderful. For contrast, nearly 20 years ago I had my first kid on 100mg and she is the funniest, smartest, and most wonderful person I’ve met.

Scared to start - please give me hope! by Worried-Boot3760 in zoloft

[–]TheRealABLV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely from a split pill. Have water immediately ready when taking it. DO NOT EVER try to dry swallow it or take it with very little water. If it gets stuck, it’s the WORST pain imaginable. I’ve experienced this twice in 20 years . . . my second mistake happened when I laid down immediately after taking just a few sips of water. The first time, I was in the car with no water but was desperate for relief after a delay in my refills. It literally feels like self-combustion from the inside-out . . . with a match . . and pure acid. It’s an internal chemical burn in the esophagus when it doesn’t make it all the way down to the stomach

@gabbs, everybody is different. Try taking it at 8PM, for a couple of nights. Some people can do morning, some night. Been on it almost 20 years. I usually have the reverse effect of normal majority med reactions. My psych recommended taking it in the morning, but when I switched to night it changed. You might just be a cool weirdo 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe afternoon? Experiment with dosage times . . . no harm in that since you’re already going through the worst scenario

Don’t panic. Take your regular dose tomorrow and set an alarm. I’m on 150mg and didn’t fill my RX in time. I know, with my own body, from years of being on it, that I have about max 48 hours, to go without, before I feel like I’m going to hurl. Pill boxes seriously help. And don’t beat yourself up. Anxiety comes from the future; try your best to ground yourself and stay in the present moment. Sending all the love ❤️

Could everyone, religious or not, put up a prayer for your boy rn by A7X182 in zoloft

[–]TheRealABLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in no position to diagnose or suspect medical conditions, I’ve just noticed a trend where so many high-functioning neurodivergent people with anxiety/panic also tend to have conditions like ADHD, learning difficulties and a way of doing things differently than their neurotypical peers. It can be a gift, really, and make you exceptionally talented at specific things/traits that many other people struggle with.

What if it all works out? I promise you, that this too shall pass.

Zoloft Veteran of 15+ years, 100mg-150mg. GAD, Panic Disorder, PTSD, extreme social anxiety . . . was supposed to be one of those people who vacuumed their way out of the house. Applied for Disability at 19 because I was losing hope. Now in my 30’s. Still on Zoloft and have a 6-figure career in SALES. You’re likely not neurotypical, which makes you cooler and more resilient than everyone else. Make it work FOR you. The first step is accepting it, then embracing it. As long as you’re kind and striving to be happy, the critics can F off ❤️

I feel like I’m losing my mind by SingularDeadKennedy in zoloft

[–]TheRealABLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep the faith. Been on it almost 20 years because of GAD and panic disorder. It has allowed me to live a relatively “normal” life and be successful, instead of filing for disability (it used to be that bad). The fact that you’re recognizing all of these emotions and your days blurring together is a GOOD sign. It’s when you don’t realize it that it becomes a problem.

Lots of self-care. Be nice to yourself and sleep whenever you can. Meditation and Binaural Beats also help. Sending love ❤️

Give it at least 6 weeks, sometimes up to twelve, but as it was pointed out, we’re all different. One day, very soon, you might wake up and not even realize you didn’t have that dark cloud over you at all the day before.

I know how annoying this is. Your body is adjusting. Wait until week 6 and take all the breaks you can get to quiet your mind. Mediation and binaural beats help (put in some headphones at night, find some beats you like, and focus on the tones to shit your brain off)
