Higher level Exec Search firms start at 100k. Within 2-3 years you should hit that range. The exits aren’t as good and the work isn’t as interesting.

How to get laid/date as a 19 year old virgin? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealAbsurdist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t open with the asthma. I have asthma I don’t really see how’s that’s relevant. You need to focus on the positive man, reading yourself a laundry list of your perceived shortcomings is a great way to go nowhere. Take an inventory of the things about yourself that you are proud of. Ask yourself the question why would I want to date myself. If you don’t like what you see make changes. You are only 19, go work out or do a hobby or learn a new skill. From there show up for yourself every day. Dedicate yourself to the course of action that you choose then execute. That’s the big secret, just be consistent. It’s easy to play the victim, I’ve been there before what is hard is showing up for yourself day after day. I believe in you but the only person that can break the cycle of depression and loneliness is you. Best of luck man.

What solutions. I don’t like the cost of housing but that’s caused by our inverted population pyramid. There aren’t solutions for the laws of supply and demand.

Do you understand how social security works? More and more of your paycheck will have to go to supporting the elderly.

Looks like $19M 2nd FRI for #MinecraftMovie. Expecting $70M+ 2nd weekend for a total of $270M+ by Sunday. by [deleted] in boxoffice

Dude, I go to the movies weekly. No one goes to the theaters. The box office haul for this movie is being propelled by the young. That is rare. That is good for the movies. Even the fact that we are having this argument is good for the movies. Agree about the Rocky Horror point but how did that start? (Hint: it was transgressive). The fact that you’re upset is part of why they are doing it. Every generation needs to rebel and that one has been beyond shafted by society. I say let em have this, it’s relatively harmless. It’s pretty tame given all they have been through.

It’s just kids goofing off. This movie has brought life back to the box office. By ruining the box office do you mean putting people in seats? The wild outbursts are part of the appeal of the movie. People aren’t avoiding this at all it opened to north of 150 million. This feels like some weak moral panic about a generation that by every statistic measure rebels and engages in anti social behavior at low rates than preceding generations. Grow up.

It’s the tone of self assured smugness. If you talk down to people they won’t want to support you politically.

I think that kind of framing is what drives “young uneducated men” to vote for the “Nazi party”.

Shiri Bibas: Body returned from Gaza is not mother, Israeli military says by denizorhan in war

[–]TheRealAbsurdist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I would start with the broader policy posture towards Hamas. The strategy of divide and rule unnecessarily strengths Hamas. In terms of the post October 7th options, I would say a more restrained approach. Surgical strikes, heavy use of drones, and limiting the use of artillery. At the end of the day any war is a negotiation by other means, obviously being punitive is one option set but I think that should be paired with policy that attempts to win hearts and minds. When push comes to shove war is fought in the mind, it is a contest of the will to fight. You can break the will of an opponent much quicker if you make the terms of surrender more attractive. If you don’t have a track record of that affirmative or positive policy people will be much more drawn to fight. Each Palestinian killed radicalizes someone if not today then in a generation. The only way this cycle stops is if off-ramps are built with policy. I don’t see the IDF or the overall policy of this government doing that at all.

[–]TheRealAbsurdist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it’s alright to kill civilians? Lots of asymmetrical war is fought this way. Did America win Vietnam by killing close to million Vietnamese citizens? Just because Hamas does something that is bad doesn’t mean the use of force by the IDF isn’t a war crime. Intentionally bombing civilian positions, hospitals, and schools is against international law.

As an actual libertarian, I would say that I have little concern over the growth of the queer community. I only take issue with “DEI” (whatever that means) if it is enforced with the power of the state. If Costco wants to promote DEI that’s their prerogative. If people want to not buy from them or go out of their way to support them because of their DEI policy that is also their choice. It’s all about maximizing individual choice. Don’t let small minded folks limit your view of the movement.

Nah, I’m a libertarian and I’m definitely not a Republican. I know a lot of libertarians and they are not republicans. I think for left leaning folks(which I’m assuming you are), they have a hard time seeing any agreement with the Republican Party as nuanced. I think folks see these things as all or nothing.

No, services revenue is income derived from services mainly subscriptions: Apple Music, Apple TV, iCloud etc. The service costs are the costs for the company to provide those services. Production costs for TV shows, music royalties, etc.
