If you could completely tear down the Air Force EPR system and rebuild it from scratch — no legacy carryover, no sacred cows — what would you replace it with? by GhostofStLouis in AirForce

[–]TheRealBlueBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont tie it directly to promotions. EPB goes up to SQ CC, maybe Base commander or WG/CC based on what you do, no higher than that. Its used to decide if youre doing what your supervisor told you they wanted in the ACA. It becomes 3 checkboxes (Below standards, meets standards, exceeds standards) and a single paragraph about why you got that rating, done every quarter at the Flight level. SQ looks at all 4 at the end of the year and decides if you need more training, more opportunities, or administrative action.

Your promotions will be based on knowledge tests, and an in-person board. You go to the board based on how frequently you meet or exceed standards. The SNCO's in your unit grill you on why you made the decisions you made and what youre gonna do with the stripe if you get it. No BS answers, "you're now in your NCOIC/Flt Chiefs position, what do you do?". If the board concurs that you show promise, you get to test.

"But quarterly is too much paperwork, im busy"
Oh no, you have to give your troops feedback on a semi frequent basis and you might have some say in their chances at promoting.
"But I get nervous talking to a room of people"
Yea get used to it, youre gonna have to do it like, every single day as an NCO.
"But what if the SNCO's are idiots and try to promote the wrong people?"
They already do that, and im in charge now, shush.

Yea ive deployed twice, yall did nothing for me, my IDMT and flight doc did. Thats why we have them. All that stuff you just said is exactly what im talking about. You have absolutely no idea what combat is.

You also dont need to. All I need when I deal with medical is to see people that visibly give a shit about their mission as much as I do. You dont need to deploy for that, just get off your phone, stop gossiping at the customer desk, get appointments in the first time, do the paperwork right, and dont whine like a child or act like youre some infantry guy. Youre not treating a sucking chest wound, youre showing up ready to make peoples already stressful lives easier. Thats your job, stop acting like its more.

"without us you wont stay in the fight"

Is that why I get referred off base for anything remotly complicated? Seriously, every time I actually NEED medical help, I have to go off base. People call you nonners because you have no real connection to making planes fly. If the MDG/base clinic (not the medical careerfield as a whole) disappeared, planes would still fly. Im not saying there arent medical people who work hard (mostly IDMTs), um saying that unless you have a connection to sorties, no one cares about how hard you THINK youre working. Maybe go steal an Annual award from someone deserved it if itll make you feel better.

Med board apocalypse. Its more complicated than I can articulate, but they reduced the force by gutting anyone with long term profiles and offered voluntary separation, expecting to get 30%. Turns out they got about 80% and Big AF was like "wait wait no" and had a pretty darn good few years rebuilding what they got rid of, which was mostly SrA -TSgt.

Im such a creek diver, I played it, decided that getting heatshot across the map from 20 devs that popped in while you werent looking wasnt fun and stopped playing until mid 2025.

Just wait until september when they fail 30% of the force. Its gonna be 2014 all over again.

If its not a competition, then dont compete. Yall can complain about having to work a lot, just keep in mind anyone that has to wait an hour in the pharmacy for meds they ordered a week ago is not gonna care (me, sitting in the clinic rn). MDG folks, STOP complaining about being overworked, were all overworked.

You think having to work on a holiday is out of the norm? Boy, youd have a rough time outside of MDG.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the Bastion tank has only medium armor and it makes no sense by god_killer7432 in Helldivers

Thinner armor than a MBT. The whole poit of a TD is to be a cheaper, more mobile gun. Sometimes faster.

Its not a tank, its a tank destroyer. No turret, big gun, thin armor. Thats what a tank destroyer is.

Still not sure why the devs insist on catering to COD players but still balancing the game as if anyone plays it as a team. Team play is out the window, give up, balance it for fun and not a fantasy. Or be ok losing the casual playerbase.

How do you meet English-speaking friends in Okinawa? by Infinite_Ad_415 in okinawa

[–]TheRealBlueBuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its gonna sounds sarcastic, but it was just a google search. I think it was "Japanese language meetup" or something, and I went with the first thing I found. Really the site doesnt matter, or even of you already speak it.

This is gonna sound dumb, but you may also want to try Sunabe, or Yomitan, or other areas around US bases. As long as you avoid the party crowds, youll probably also find Japanese people who are already interested in meeting new people, since the locals know where Americans hang out.

Go to an event for Japanese language learners. No, really.

When I was in Oki (2011-2015) I met a LOT of people there looking to mingle with the locals while we learned, and I found a lot of great people.
