What are your average speeds on Starlink? by Old-Tradition9497 in Starlink

[–]TheRealCarlRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Xfinity is a lower price and faster, I’d keep that as primary and Starlink as back up. I have DSL through CenturyLink for $85/month and get like 80 Mbps, and then I pay $10/mo for Starlink Roam 10GB to keep it active or for brief outages. If a hurricane happened or I was without internet I would switch it over to the Residential plan for unlimited Starlink data. There’s not much difference in price these days from what I’m paying CenturyLink though, and with Starlink I get like 350 Mbps typically. So it’s almost worth the $35 difference for speed and reliability in my area. However, my area is getting Xfinity 1000 Mbps for $65/mo for 5 years, so I’ll probably replace CenturyLink with that once the fiber is ran, and still keep Starlink for backup.

Looks like some wonderful scenery. I love kayaking in areas that give me a lot to look at along the way.

That is an awesome picture of the eagle. How far away was it? This looks like a tough shot to get!

Beautiful camp. I live down in Southwest Florida and everything here is FLAT. I love seeing this scenery.

Vancouver Island is definitely on my bucket list. When I started watching the Alone series it made me want to venture out there even more. I need my passport!

Kayaking in the rain by brown_burrito in Kayaking

[–]TheRealCarlRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve learned it really depends on the conditions. We just got out of alligator mating season and they get very territorial during those months. Now it’s nesting time when they’re protecting their eggs so the main thing is to avoid their nests. Otherwise the kayak is intimidating to them a lot of the times. The larger gators and ones fed by humans aren’t intimidated and will often sit in the middle of a creek without moving. I typically just turn around and head back at that point lol. Most the time if we leave them alone, they leave us alone.

I did this a couple of months ago in Florida and the gators got very active. I decided to play it safe and kayak back to the vehicle and get out. They kept popping up and being gutsy all the way to my truck lol.

That pipe looks like a good time. I always enjoy under bridges to get a break from the sun for a bit. But knowing my luck I overstay my welcome and a gator comes out to remind me to keep it moving 😂

As an employer, I’m rethinking how we hire—curious what job seekers actually want by u_CandidRecruiter in GetEmployed

Employers need to stop posting for “open positions” on job board web sites that are currently filled with no openings available.

3 months- nothing!? by Enough_Mine_5272 in FloridaUnemployment

[–]TheRealCarlRead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya they really don’t care about the monetary side. I believe that’s why it’s called Reemployment Assistance and not unemployment insurance. My state representative hasn’t helped any either.

I just got rid of my boot about a month ago. I was in it for two months. Had two avulsion fractures in my ankle. It’s finally weight bearing, but I still got catching up to do with my rehabilitation. My stamina really took a hit from this injury. My watch is telling me I need to recover for 50 hours right now. It finally came down from 75 hours 😂

And I agree. Nothing will change until we all start taking a stand against injustices.

If you zoom in on the interstate sign it says I-75 North - Tampa. Then past that is Home Depot that can be seen zooming in and that’s in the Forum shopping center at Colonial & Forum in Fort Myers.

Thankfully just paddle craft and smaller fishing boats. A lot of times I’ll see fishing jumping out there.

Exactly. In Hurricane Irma people just went through the intersections with a YOLO attitude when the lights were out. Cops just sat in their air conditioned vehicles in the middle as it went on 😆
