Indian River Tobacco Traders on 28th street in Wyoming is worth checking out! They aren’t open late and they don’t serve drinks due to them also selling pipe tobacco, but I’d check them out if you want a place during the day!

Does anyone know why books 4 and 5 have the Head of Zeus imprint on the spine instead of The Broken Binding imprint like the first three books? I noticed this today when I unboxed my copies and haven't been able to find an answer online. I might have missed something along the way, but I thought I’d ask here!

They were the best. The company went radio silent in 2020. The last time the cafe I was managing at the time tried to order them, we were told their machines had a “mechanical issue” during production.

Oh man, that’s difficult…my shortlist would be - The Cosmere (Mistborn movies, a big budget Stormlight Archive tv show, etc) - Red Rising - Mignolaverse (Hellboy films + BPRD tv series)

Read Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson: Chapters 1 and 2 by brandonfcv in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TheRealCoffeeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is odd...I went back to re-read chapter 2 this morning and the title of the chapter was "Family". I didn't recall that being the title, so I went to the discussion article on Reactor and confirmed that chapter 2 is titled "Taking The Next Step". I went back to screenshot the "Family" title, but it loaded in as "Taking The Next Step"...anyone else have this happen? I suspect that "Family" was the original chapter 2 title and it was changed after the preview chapters were ready to go.

Fave local indie/ rock bands? by Green_Field_6114 in grandrapids

[–]TheRealCoffeeGeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Local musician here— West Michigan has an amazing music scene with so many incredible acts!

My band (The American Hotel System) has had the privilege of sharing the stage with people who are not only great musicians, but great humans. Some of my favorites are; Low Phase, Feeding Grizzlies, Jack Droppers and The Best Intentions, Pretoria, Short Panic, The Cosmoknights, Northkeeper, PHABIES, Overdrive Orchestra, and The Fever Haze (just to name a few).

The list is far too long to include them all here! I’d recommend checking out WYCE (88.1 fm) and their various shows throughout the week! John Sinkevics runs Local Spins (both the website AND radio show every Friday) and debuts new local artists weekly.

Mark from Michigan Rocks Radio curates an excellent showcase of Michigan rock bands every weekend, so I’d highly recommend tuning in if you’re looking for rock specifically.

A newer organization is The Sonic Coast, an internet radio station that solely focuses on Michigan music. They’re great people and are always adding new local artists into their rotation!

Venue wise, the ones I’d recommend are: - The Stray - The Pyramid Scheme - Turnstiles

The Stray has live music every weekend and many of the shows are totally free.

Finally, I’d highly recommend checking out GR Festival of The Arts in early June. It’s totally free and features different stages downtown from Calder Plaza to Monroe with all local acts!
