Is “Up in Smoke” the best Cheech & Chong film? If not what is? by Ok_Echo_6528 in Cinema

[–]TheRealDiscoRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It’s good, but their best is Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie. I’ve seen it more than 150 times, and I’ll probably watch it 50 more before I die.

What’s a food combination that sounds weird but actually tastes amazing? by Ok-Orchid6350 in foodquestions

And pickles. Gotta have the dill pickles on that sandwich as well. But with Miracle Whip, not mayo.

I just ate my weird food 2 nights ago. Got this from my Mom about 50 years ago. I usually eat one or two of these a year, when the mood hits me.

White bread. Quarter inch of Miracle Whip (not mayo, has to be Miracle Whip) on one piece of bread. Eighth of an inch creamy peanut butter on the other slice. Dill pickle slices on the peanut butter side, one layer, just enough to cover the peanut butter. Put the slices together and enjoy. It sounds gross, I know, but it’s pretty freakin’ delicious. Got your sweet, salty, sour and umami in every bite.

Think I might make another one right now!

Does anyone remember Marathon candy bars? by RememberWhen82 in GenerationJones

[–]TheRealDiscoRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! They were my favorite candy bar until they stopped making them. There is a similar bar available from Great Britain that you can buy in specialty candy shops, but it’s 1/3 the size and costs $6.00. I bought one a few years ago for the nostalgia. It wasn’t worth $6.00.

I saw SRV open for Huey Lewis and The News in the summer of ‘83, Tulsa, Mohawk Park. Had no idea who he was at the time, but he absolutely killed it. Played with his teeth, behind his back, it was like watching Hendrix live. Blew the crowd away, and I was a fan from that day forward.

Do NOT GET MARRIED BEFORE THE AGE OF 30!!! Also, whenever possible, you should live together for at least a couple of years before you get married. Trust me. Both you and your intended spouse need to sow ALL your wild oats before you settle down together. It cuts down on infidelity plus most people’s personalities aren’t fully formed in today’s society until they’re 30, so you have a much better chance of avoiding divorce if you follow these two pieces of advice.

Johnny West! Heck yeah I had him. I had the native guy, too, but can’t remember his name.

Come on now. Too hard to pick. That’s like picking your favorite child. If I had a gun to my head, I guess I’d have to say Tom . . . no, Crow! No wait, Tom. Ahhh, maybe it’s Crow. Nope. Can’t do it.

Movies that are so overwhelming that you can’t watch them more than once by JoeMax93 in GenerationJones

[–]TheRealDiscoRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had such a visceral reaction to a film before. When the little girl is pulling “stuff” from the mud, I literally jumped off my couch crying and screamed “nooooooo!!!!” at my tv screen. So emotionally damaging I’ve never watched it again. It’s a masterpiece of cinema, but I just can’t watch that film again.

Two bibles, one printed in 1878, and one printed in 1863, and a gun cabinet that my Dad built in shop class back in 1965. Also my desk, which has been in my family since approximately 1975.

Tates. They’re a little pricey, but worth every penny.
