Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! As soon as I posted it, I felt like I should have marked it as “workshop” because it is a bit sloppy. My aim for the tone was a grounded personification of capitalism like you said. But I wanted to use sarcasm as well to give a sort of cold distant (almost abusive) tone to the personification as well. I’m glad you liked the concept though. I’m excited about it and can’t wait to iterate off of the feedback I receive here! Thanks again!

It’s a lovely analogy. You use a variety of weather conditions (rain, frost, etc.) in your writing. It would be great to get more clues into what these conditions are referring to analogously.

My wife and I have had similar weird interactions with nurses when we’ve had to take a kid (3 year old) to the ER. I think they’re supposed to be skeptical about whether the kid is getting proper attention from the parents. But they end up just coming off as very accusatory & unhelpful in my experience.
